I didn't disagree. What's even more puzzling is (I saw on the internet) she's made 100K in merchandise already. Plus people are paying her to hawk tuah in a jar and send it to them. WTF is wrong with people. Rhetorical question, plenty is the only answer.

I hope she gets all she can out of this run.
I read somewhere she wants to start a podcast, just like everyone else.

I don't fault her at all. Take money from stupid people as long as it's not a scam.
If they're willing to pay money for stupid shit, a jar of spit, and she delivers a jar of spit good for her.
Social media is more fucked up than odd to me. There's a radio commercial for an internet provider that has kids saying they want to be a professional gamer or a major influencer when they grow up.

those are rarely addressed surgically unless there are prolonged symptoms with failed focal PT and conservative measures…..I have been in sports medicine for 27 years. If you want to discuss off line let me know.

unfortunately finding a good PT who knows how to address specific issues is getting much fewer and further between…..they are mostly about generating as many visits as possible and are usually a jack of all trades and masters of none. I am not trying to be overly generalizing if there are any PT’s in the house.

however I would definitely call around to the local college athletic programs and ask who they would recommend. Getting in with an PT who is used to dealing with a motivated, physically active population is worth its weight in gold. And they will typically see stuff that isn’t “run of the mill”.

you could also ask your doctor for a one time cortisone injection to see if that gives you any relief. Would be as much diagnostic as it would be to relieve the discomfort. Sometimes that’s all it takes for these to calm down…..

but they may still do the cortisone injection….if there is a sports medicine trained physician in the network, request an appointment with them. They would definitely be more likely to listen to this type of suggestion.

 

People misinterpret the purpose of cortisone. A lot of people mistakenly think it’s a “pain relieving” injection. It does contain lidocaine which is an analgesic but that only lasts a couple hours at most. The real benefit is the anti-inflammatory process. It’s great when used properly - the problems arise when people use that as sole means of treatment and don’t do anything to address the issue. From the sounds of your your mri report the discoid meniscus and the fat pad impingement are causing irritation (inflammation). The cortisone would serve to reduce that irritation hopefully resulting in the swelling reduction allowing for the fat pad to not get pinched and the discoid meniscus would go back to normal, asymptomatic movement. Activity modification, at least in the short term would help, and SLOWLY going back to retraining the quads with gradually increasing weight and impact.

 

Agree 100%. Unfortunately, the best physical therapist close to me is “not in network”. Instead I have a personal trainer who is really good and has helped my recovery a lot.
