Spare key fob for 2021

Needing a new key fob for my 2021 1794 CrewMax.

Dealer or aftermarket?

If aftermarket, any recommendations?

Anything special to look out for or be concerned about?

$350 for new fob, programming and key cut at Ace Hardware.

I got my extra fob from https://northcoastkeyless.com/ for about $110 and my local dealer programmed the fob and cut the key for $75

Make sure you get the correct fob version. IIRC there are at least 2

 

Thanks. My small town dealer wanted $150-200 to program (whether the fob took the program or not) and $100 to cut the key. Thieves!

 

Costco just had a vendor in their stores here locally, $220 - programming and key cut while I finished up my shopping and has 3-year warranty.

Are the 2021's keyless start? I bought a keyfob for my 2015 from Amazon for something like $20, and an OEM chipped key blank for about the same. Ace cut the key for $4, and I used techstream to program the fob and key myself.

 

Yes 2020 & 2021 are push to start, keyless!

 

I bought a factory keyless FOB and rented a programmer from Tom's Keys. The rental fee was $59.95 with a refundable $120 deposit. It was a bit sketchy, but worked. For all you replying with key'd FOBs in mind, the 2020-21 keyless is a totally different animal. Also, I'd be blown away if Ace is able to program one, but I've been wrong before.

 

Sounds like most Ace stores have purchased a programmer that works for many brands of cars. They are buying the fobs from Duracell.

 

They were at my Costco today. I didn't need them but noticed them since I had seen you post about them.
