    Hi all,

    New Tundra owner - I have previously owned 4 Tacoma's and 1 four-runner.

I'm torn between a 4 inch or 6 inch lift - the shop is really pushing me to get a 6 inch lift saying I will regret settling for 4 inch.

I live in the Rocky Mountains - tow a small travel trailer and often on back trails to find camp spots- nothing crazy though.

    Also - if I go with a 6 inch lift - will 35's on 18's look good? I'm not a fan of 20's.

    Thanks for the help/input!

    I run 35” on a 3” lift (Cranked to 3.5”)

You’ll want to get 37” on a 6” lift at the least. What brand are you considering?

The pro comp 6 inch k5069bps - I'm leaning towards the 6 inch not being as functional for my daily driver and what I use it for - the shop is just really pushing me on it - it's the same price basically.

I think the ProComp requires you to cut the cross member- in other words, goodbye frame warranty.

I voiced concern about that - he assured me there wouldn't be cutting - but also stated that with this lift they would cover anything on warrenty that toyota wouldn't due to the lift causing the issues.

Hi Robyn.......Just depends what look you're after. I prefer as low as possible with tires that fill the wheel wells. I think if your going with 35's, I would do 4" max and probably more like a 3". Again, just depends on the look you're after. Keep in mind if going much larger on the tires, a re-gear of the diffs is next in line. There are some good looking 4-6" lift trucks out there, but here is a pic of mine with just a 2-1/4" lift up front and 37's on OEM 18" wheels.

Also keep in mind, you’re up here in Denver with us, so the elevation will suck some of your power.

With a 6” lift you’ll be a bit more restricted to where you cannot park at times. Just some things to think about.

Good looking truck! I like the wheel wells to be filled in and not have a ton of space. I'm looking at 35x12.5x18 tires - not sure I want to go much bigger then that.

Good ole altitude - that's why I upgraded to the Tundra - my Tacoma was struggling pulling my trailer up in the mountains.

I do work in Denver as well - The parking garage height is 7 feet 6 inches.

Thanks for the compliment. You may want to look at the Toytec store and go with maybe a 3" lift. I think in the end you will be happier with everyday use and functionality of your truck. Keep us posted which route you choose.

Do you have a good side pic of your set-up?

    Also, who locally installs toytec?

I noticed the Yamaha in your bed first. You're not gonna enjoy unloading it with a 6" lift. Go with the 4".

Do you have any pictures of your truck?

I know I just signed up today --- but I saw in another thread about your pick-up lines! Haha

How do you like the toytec boss? I had toytec on my Tacoma and didn't have any issues. I was looking at the 4 or 6 pro comp - the toytec is quite a bit better price!

    Some stuff
You do not need 6. Keep it simple. Keep it practical. 35x12.5x18 will fit just fine on a 3". You will need a body mount chop which RSG can do for you.

My pickup lines are weak and are only meant for people with no brains....and even then they don't work :( it's quite alright to laugh at me....I'm used to these jackasses doing it daily. By the way..it's all just in good fun

These pics are after doing some hefty 4 wheeling on a toytec BOSS 2.0 setup..3 in front, 1inch block and an add a leaf in back with TOYO C/T 35s. It rides a little lower due to the weight of all my gear

I didnt do a cab mount chop and I'm on 35 x 12.5 x 18s. I rub a little but not enough to cry. RSG installed mine and bumper chopped, then I carved a little more
I'm thinking of doing a CMC myself. They charge $250

P&P engineering. I would have gone full frame wrap under if I would have thought about it. At that time I wasnt planning on going as hard off road as I am....bt they've served their purpose. SDHQ and Demello does a nice slider that will give full frame wrap

I don't do a ton of hard off reading - mostly just getting into camp sites. Also, I like sliders for door ding protection - I work downtown in Denver and the parking is horrible!

I would have to look, but I did wheels, tires, lift, and some other odds and ends at the same time. Just call and ask. They also have been aligning me for free each time I go there
