What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Doing a once over, in preparation to start the ball joint upgrade, and I noticed something...interesting. Apparently, I have 3 SPC adjustment cams and 1 OEM . I'm not even sure when or where this happened.

Doubt I'll get to this as planned, today. Spent most of yesterday at the vet ER, figuring out that the ol boy has LarPar, or a paralyzed larynx. Long ass day and it zapped most of my motivation, plus a sore back carrying that 80+ lbs mfer around, lol.

 

Is that where their bark sounds like a cough? Best of luck with the good boy.

Yeah, like kennel cough, a goose like honk. He's a damn 14-16 year old lab/pit/mastiff, so I figured the louder breathing was mostly because of that. Which is partially true, as it's common in bigger framed dogs past the age of 10. It's the start of a bigger, neurological issue, unfortunately. Otherwise they said he's the picture of health.

Just trying to make him comfortable for as long as possible.

You sound like a good dog owner man. Its tough seeing them get older, but that age for a bigger pup is still really good. Mine is 16 now, hes a smaller terrier mix though and practically deaf and losing his eyesight too. Otherwise still in pretty good health.

All you can do is keep them happy and comfortable as long as you can.

Rustoleum Alkyd Enamel "low gloss black" catalyzed and reduced with Acetone. 16:1:1 sprayed out of a HVLP with a 1.8 tip

 

Sounds pretty specific! I just use whatever comes out of the can. Seems like I can stand to learn a thing or two about painting

 

Learning to use an HVLP spray gun is a real game changer. Highly recommend.

 

No h2o in the lines is always a good thing as well. How much did it cost you to get into that set up? If you don't mind sharing

 

The most expensive part is the compressor, but you may already have something that would work. More volume would be better, but as small as a 5 ish gallons would work okay. You will have to wait for a smaller compressor to catch up.

Those rusty exhaust manifolds need to go with ceramic coated shorties taking their place (or long tubes). Great job though.

 

I'll build some long tubes someday.

I do have the oem splash shields to put back in, so that will help hide the ugliness for now.

IIRC for about $50 HF had a decent HVLP gun that coupled with a , , and

$9 4 Pieces Disposable Mini Air Water Filters Disposable Spray Gun Filter Whirlwind Air Line Filter High Flow Guns Filters, Only Standard 1/4" Threads, for Most Spray Guns and Air Tools

disposable moisture filter connected at the sprayer ... along with a compressor that can push enough CFM (and a respirator) ... can lay down some good finishes after practice with two stage auto paint (adding hardener / catalyst and reducer). Think @JakeJake linked to looks similar to mine that's green (year's old). Paint Society actually demos the HF gun here.

If don't have large enough compressor tank that causes pausing to catch up volume, paint can dry while laying it down and not come out "wet" looking. Smaller compressors can do ok for smaller jobs.

Good to put an oil filter at the compressor before the hose too and can make a good water separator out of a coil of copper sitting in a bucket of water if want to go the full nine yards. Can build this installed right at the compressor before the hose. Bucket filled with cold water condenses the hot moisture filled air in the coils and separates it. Consider a hose for painting that is not used for air tools (especially where previously had an oiler installed before it).

 

You have a machine to do the bends for long tubes? Impressive.

Drove 200 miles home today from a long work trip. Unfortunately I think my 5100’s second clip with stock springs are too stiff. They are something I can deal with but pot holes and bridge or concrete transitions are driving me nuts. Damn I didn’t want to change those springs out
