Negative- from them it didn’t make a difference. The old man and I have been doing research and the length for the helmz etc needs to be adjusted so we’re making one custom for his once it’s on (be awhile his trucks still apart for a ton of work) I’ll share that info.

The catback is mild for this setup and the downpipes with catback a bit rowdy. No drone in either setup.

Anyone done any towing with it? Wife told me my exhaust needed an upgrade since it’s to quiet (x pipe into a Borla pro xs all factory size) and doesn’t like where it exits. Just want to make sure it’s not to loud or droney while towing.

Trailer typically comes in around 5000-5500lbs loaded. Last trip (first with the SPD) was about 6500' elevation gain. Exhaust note is much nicer than the FM Outlaws previously on the truck. The drone with them was horrendous when under load, but I haven't noticed any with the SPD catback.

I had a dual side exit system with dual 10" FM Outlaws that was on the truck when I bought it (pic below was with the old exhaust). It created some other problems for me: Cracked - Split brake line...? | Toyota Tundra Forum (tundras.com) So far I'm very pleased with the SPD kit

Hoping to get out next week for another trip to the river....

    Agreed. Especially not at 100kph/62mph.

I have the full setup - downpipes and cat-back - which replaced a full Magnaflow setup (downpipes + single exit muffler with turn-down before the axle). Now that would drone. The SPD, however, will get pretty dang loud when you give it the beans, and is also boisterous when in a headwind at 80, but 70mph and below it is very well mannered for being a performance exhaust. Mind you, I am running 5.29s on 37s which keeps the revs slightly higher than 4.30s w/ stock (or slightly larger) tire sizes.

As for the supercharger side, sumbish sounds GREAT all the way to redline! I'm pretty certain I gained more umph on the top-end too. I'd wager going from 2.5" OD to 3" had the most significant effect. Well, that and losing a cat per side.

I would imagine SPD is selling far more of these DPs and catbacks than they anticipated, but maybe I’m wrong. I don’t view anything for our trucks as a huge market to make an investment in manufacturing products for, but apparently there is demand! I’m happy to support them for doing so also.

I wish I would've opted for the DP's when I got the cat-back, but I had other mods higher on my priority list. If there's ever another group buy I'll def spring for them.

It was listed above the price when I ordered. And I stand corrected, it was 2-3wk lead time.

My cat back showed up early enough today that I decided to throw it in before my roadtrip starts tomorrow. Took me about 2 hours with no power tools. Everything fit up nice. Just got back from 1st quick test drive.

I'm 50:50 whether or not I keep it in the truck. My truck had the TRD Catback from factory as my truck is Pro model. Main reason I chose to go to this exhaust was to get rid of the low RPM highway speed glug-glug from having unequal length exhaust. Under load at low RPM the pulses were just annoying. No drone, but no likey.

This cat back fixes that as it sound much cleaner now at those speeds. But less deep sounding under acceleration, kind of shallow. Just the trade off for the equal length exhaust. No doubt it is more efficient, but hoping this long trip I'm going on settles my decision to keep or go back to TRD. Hoping I like it because the TRD Catback will probably be easier to sell. We'll see.

Not sure on the OD of the pipes, but if you’ve ever seen them cut open they actually have a pipe inside of the pipe, so the real inner diameter of the innermost pipe is more like 2”. On NA supposedly this plays a big role in maintaining low rpm torque. With forced induction it’s probably less than ideal.

Thats what I had surmised as well. I didn’t know if the piping was different on the down pipes but I recall the mid pipes being 2 to 2.25”.

Aren’t downpipes and mid pipes the same thing? The pipes that join the headers/manifolds to the catback. I think downpipe is more of a turbocharged vehicle term. SPD calls them downpipes, but really they’re midpipes in our application.

I was referring to the section of pipe after the cats extending to the muffler as the mid pipes; that’s how others have referred to them. But I have no idea if that terminology is correct. So I guess I was wondering about pipe diameter from the collector to/through the cats.

I wonder if part of the rowdiness of the down pipes in this kit is from them being single wall instead of double wall. I’m not trying to derail the thread and should prolly create a new thread. I don’t know much about the double wall muffler pipe (or where to even find the stuff) but I’m guessing it has to do with sound deadening and insulating the exhaust to manage the heat and keep it flowing well instead of cooling. But like you said, that’s for NA. Still learning the rules for SC’d. I REALLY debated buying the kit but don’t want the tow pig to be too noisy. :) Thought about just doing the down pipes for flow, but have been surprised to hear how much different/louder the down pipes make the system; I would have thought the cat back to make a much larger auditory difference.
