The Crewmax cab is so freaking roomy...

It is still astonishing to me how big the backseat is on my CM. Loaded up the family for a trip to the in-laws cottage and was able to fit a ton of stuff at the feet of the kids. Crazy

Just wish the entire under seat was available for storage.

I wish the crewmax had been around when I was a kid and my parents had one - they never would have been able to reach back and smack me when I was misbehaving on road trips because I'd be out of range.

No can do just yet... got home and went to fill it up (for the dogs) and discovered it has a hole in it. I swear it's thinner plastic than the package of batteries I bought the other day.

Back to Home Depot after work.

Nothin a little DIY can’t fix. Or you could spend a bit of $$ for lockable storage like I did…

Ya I’ve got a bin but still aren’t happy with it. Much prefer my Silverado’s completely wide open space where I didn’t have to lift the seat to put anything in. With two car seats it’s a pain.

Ah yes. Our youngest is only 8, but it's hard to remember life before no car seats or booster seats. I like keeping all the hunting gear under lock and key in the cab, even though I know someone determined with enough time on their hands will get what they want.
DIY zip tie swing case FTW! :benchpress:

And with a console safe, that's all my extra storage solutions. Thankfully when I was shopping the slim pickins in 2020, I did not wind up with a truck with a sunroof. I may do the overhead console conversion from the earlier 2nd gen Tundras.

Oh you DC guys :rofl:Never miss any opportunity to bag on the short beds.

It's understandable, got a little envy goin' on with our power rear windows and lashing out... I get it.

I remember feeling the same way when I had the AC 1st gen.

Got enough room in the bed for a 9 day road trip for a family of four. Can’t argue with that.

Yeah, I've had to play Tetris on occasion to pack things right, but I've never had a problem fitting everything I need to in the bed.

Love having such a roomy cab.

Believe me, I wish it came with CM & the 6.5' bed like the 3rd Gen. When I was in the market, the 3rd gens were all so highly priced I couldn't get what I wanted for less than $60k out the door. So I saved $20k and went w the trusty 5.7, but lost a foot of her bed space

If crew cab cab Gen 2.5 with 8 foot bed existed, I would have been on it
    Ended up with nice DCLB

I want all the space I can get inside and outside the cab

Anybody make a bed inside the backseat of a crew cab? I can't really sleep stretched out in back seat of DCLB, I am 6 foot tall.

If I had a Crewmax Longbed I would rip out backseat and make a flat bed with storage under it...hypthetically of course.

I just moved to a Tundra from a Tacoma and the space in the crewmax still stuns me. It's fantastic.

A hitch bed extender for lumber or similar and or a hitch cargo basket works great. I have a DIY giant basket that is almost like a second truck bed or a small trailer without the storage, registration, and maintenance headaches. Big and stout enough for my garden tractor to ride on. My bed extenders are both convertible too, so with the front hitch and headache rack, I'm able to easily transport 24' wood beams with a 5.5' bed truck.

Sorry, don't have ATM. The basket is 46"x60" wide, fabbed outer perimeter with 2"x4" structural steel tubing, expanded metal floor, 2"x2""x1/4" center bar/male with 5/8" hitch pin hole., 2"x2"x 3/8" steel angle under floor diagonally from center hitch bar to outer rear corners of perimeter frame. About a 175 pounds. Google convertible hitch bed extender and you can see how they can be converted to become upright racks. Then visualize one behind the tailgate and a mirror image of one in front of the grill and a headache rack behind the rear window. Lumber, pipe, ladders, steel panels, etc. all can be easily transported without a trailer. My truck....IMG_20240506_181634409_HDR.jpg

Yeah, I was blown away by how big the rear seat area is. I would have gladly given a few inches of legroom back for more bed length but the double cab is too small.

That would fit in my backseat, I removed the seats in the rear and have a flat panel back there
