Fuck it. It's lake time.

 

So we got held up in OKC for TWO FUCKING HOURS because of a semi truck tipped and caught fire. I don't see how you big city folk do it. If that happened in Amarillo it would delay you at most 15 minutes. So that made us come into Tulsa at 515, during rush hour. We left at 1030, got here at 645. Shoulda got here at 430. That's with me running 90 on 44 before and after Tulsa. This was the worst drive up here I've had in the 12 years or so we've been. Oh well, nothing a few Ultras can't solve.

My tactic is drive 30 miles at 30 mph rather than 10 miles at 10 mph. Same time, less stressful.

I live on the outskirts of the metroplex. Close enough for convenience. Far enough to be small town. Far enough to avoid a metric fuck ton of traffic.

I guess I am. When I pulled up the jetski was repaired and on a trailer. We thought he fixed it finally. Nope, he gave it to his bro in law and it's gone now. We noticed new cabinets and counter tops. Didn't think anything of the for sale sign at the top of the hill; figured the neighbors were selling. Nope, he listed the lake house. This will be our last year here. I'm pretty sure we've been coming here for 14 years now.

I remember the first time we came to Tulsa. My (then) wife had a wedding to go to for her friend. I said, "hey, my uncle lives there, let's see what he's doing. It's been years since I've seen him." He told us to meet at a place called mohagannys. Jesus man, I was still in a t shirt and work boots and this place had a waiter for each person, and they scraped crumbs off the table with a crumb scraper thing. My uncle had been playing golf all day and was 3 sheets to the wind and being a typical (my last name).

My (then) wife says, "oh my God, there's two of them." I fucking die laughing. It was a good validation that my crazy drunk ass actually came from something. Anyways, that place was crazy. I caught a peek at the check and it was like $600 for 4 of us, back in 2010. He invited us to come to the lake and we've been every year since then. Started coming twice at some point. It's gonna be sad to see it go.

I used to have a set of those Swamper 34x9.5 TSL tires many many years ago. How long ago?...well back when they were $99 a tire...shipped. I had them on my CJ7. They dug ruts like crazy
