Love seeing baseboard removed when doing new flooring. What are the plans for that? Looks like you guys already had a good sized board

Right now it’s a 1x6 craftsman style board. I’m hoping it goes over existing paint line . If not may have to up it in size . No quarter round

Had a guy come over and give me a quote to extend the concrete driveway towards the side gate for trailer parking and remove 1100 sq ft of grass to add large gravel rocks.

You guys doing preformed corners? 45s? 22.5s?

I don't see a decoupling membrane/vapor barrier...not an issue in TX? All 3 homes we've re-done tile at here in SoCal we have seen some sort of barrier/membrane under the original tile. Maybe because of our earthquakes or the moisture (We do get rain where we live :) )

22.5s for the columns where it’s rounded for sure.

the ditra mat I got mixed reviews on. After everything was removed I looked at the floor. We laser red it and inspected it. Not a single crack or disjoinment. It’s also a 20 year old house so should be pretty well settled. So I opted just to adhere to slab. None of the original tiles were cracked so. I felt okay without it.
Also overnight moisture test checked out

Cleaned up some debris in the work area from yesterday and started getting ready for the sub floor area repairs.

Currently on fire watch waiting for work to wrap up so I can finish on the property.

After talking with the neighbors its a fair quote given the price for concrete and landscape rocks.

I told the guy that we have a deal.

So much for taking a day off.

Decided to fix the pillars since we didn't like them leaning until later.

Then decided I want to gravel under the deck to deter pests and vagrants... So ended up laying that down.

Then ran another acre with the zero turn. Full toy usage day today.

It's interesting the different ways homes are built around the country. Out here most everything is built on a slab, no basement and the only thing you'll see on pillars or block is a mobile home.

Bought me the milwaukee mower...mustve fallen off the truck or something cuz the fella only wanted 500 for it, with the dual 12s and the dual batt rapid charger.

My 15yr old honda is starting to knock a bit and the bag is torn. Figured why spend money on that thing when I can just get a new one.

Yeah, I struggled with this when I moved home. Where I grew up, stick homes on foundation and block&beam homes are common. where we moved to, almost all SOCB homes on slabs are norm. then I moved out west and its all slabs. Moved back home, and there are a lot of these. Great for ventilation, water drainage and more... but I hate them as a whole. Accessing things is useful, but I prefer SOCB homes for sure. If anything ever happens to this, we will build a block foundation home behind this one.

    TLDR: agree.

Wow, I had no idea they could be that aggressive! Around here they are awesome, I have a window feeder and watch them all the time. They will buzz around me when it needs to be changed or refilled and I also have had a few fly into the hose water while I am watering the garden, no aggression at all, just really cool!

Yep, they can be little shits. We have water on the porch for our tortoise and a small container pond and other birds will come to drink and the humming birds will dive bomb them too.

At our house they mostly chase each other off of the feeder. This year they stopped coming to the feeder. I think because another popular bird feeder is only a couple of feet away. Every kind of bird I know of and some I have to look up, come to that feeder. It appears the activity is too much for the hummers. They still do come to the honeysuckle and Jasmine.

I work last night to hot air coming from the HVAC vents. I quickly realized that the condenser unit was humming and the fan was not engaging. After about an hour online I became a YouTube Certified HVAC Technician. I discovered that I could push start the condenser fan motor so I started with replacing the capacitor. Voila, works.

I keep a spare capacitor in my toolbox for this exact reason....$35 bucks to have one on hand in case shit hits the fan in the middle of summer, instead of a $400 emergency hvac service
As far as i know its just unplug/plug (making sure to use the same terminals)...only thing that scares me is the discharge.

I had a tech come out a few years ago and was asking him about it (ours was still in spec), he said to avoid any of the Chinese brands and get a AmRad or Titan (cant remember exactly, but i think there's Titan and Titan HD, one is made is USA and one in China). I went with an AmRad.

The one I replace was an amrad and it was dated 2012 so that thing outlived it's expectancy. The titan I just put in says made in USA so should be good!

I'm sure its fine, but if you buy a cold spare, i'd look for a Murica' one.
