So are we going to update the 500 news stories saying that one of the primary sources of the headline "dealers aren't taking tundras on trade in" to say "actually the guy ended up getting more than he paid for when he traded it in"?

    No?

    okay didn't think so

I'm pretty sure GM has a forum to make new friends in that will tell you how great your new rig is. Not sure what you were going for in this post. You aren't going to change anyone's mind about their choices. Don't you have "real life" friends to brag to about purchasing a new rig? I hope the best for you and good luck. I would keep your new dealership service department on speed dial.

Respectfully, I don't care if you like my rig nor do I need your approval to justify my decision. But, I did show my truck to my friends and didn't have to brag. They liked it without me saying a word.

What I was going for was to provide an update on my trade situation to those that are considering it (yes, there are others that are considering trading). Also, I wanted to let others know that certain dealers will take a Tundra on trade. Luckily, I was able to get my TRD Pro at invoice thus allowing me to trade and not lose my arse. For a '23 owner like yourself who either is or will soon be in the safety recall, I can only imagine your frustration and disappointment with your Tundra.

It's obvious I hurt your feelings by trading my truck and stating that my Chevy is actually better built. I anticipated some loyalist and fan boys in denial like yourself would throw flames. However, your advice is duly noted and I will certainly enter my service dept. number into my phone just in case. Likewise, and more importantly, if I were you, I would go ahead and do some recon work on where you will feel comfortable parking your truck at your local service dept. for weeks, if not months, for multiple engine replacements and paint correction. Oh, and good luck to you too

    .

Anyone buying a used 3rd gen Tundra should and must know about the recall. If they are willing to roll the dice for a good deal on a slightly used truck, so be it. There is nothing the original owner could do about metal flakes in the oil and who knows, it may have just been normal break-in wear. Swapping a Toyota for a GM out of reliability concerns used to be ironic but its hard to make that claim with a straight face in 2024. Times have definitely changed and Toyota has a hill to climb.

Interesting, interesting... a man-portable weapon that physically launches flammable material at an opponent.

My course is clear: I shall approach the Imagineers at Spraynard Maximum Density Industries and demand such a weapon be immediately developed. It falls to I, Spraynard, to kraftwerk the name. But what to call it?

    The Scorch Launcher. No!

    The Fuego Slinger! NO!!

I wouldn’t sweat the sourpuss comments too much. There have been many GM HD trucks in my family. One diesel and a bunch of gassers. All have been excellent and as trouble free as my tundra. Their half tons probably not so much but the HDs are built to a higher standard it would appear to me. I’d also buy one over a new tundra if shopping tomorrow for more reasons than reliability. I would have skipped the diesel though personally, as the emissions equipment has ruined them and servicing them is more difficult, as is finding someone qualified, and it’s more expensive to own overall.

Honestly, my 2014 F150 was constructed just as well as any Toyota I have owned(3 now). I don't know how the new ones are built but I wheeled my F150 more than most people and its interior and chassis were still solid as hell.

And all the bolts in the chassis weren't frozen by 70000 miles like my Toyotas so I could actually work on it without have to use torches and cutting wheels.

And we know if consumer reports says it, then it must be true

I realize you're hindered by blind loyalty since you have a '24 Tundra. However, if you research other sites, you will find the 2024 the Chevy 2500HD ranks near or at the top of almost every auto review site...even consumer reports. What is interesting is that the Tundra model years '22-'24 ranks at or near the bottom of the sites.

Drive what you like and believe what you want. However, I tested every 3/4 truck on the market and the only other competitor that was in the running was Ram. Objectively, both of the trucks had zero rattles, felt tight, had way better interiors, and don't have a national safety recall due to bearing failure and potential catastrophic results. I purchased my Tundra two months ago because I believed in historic Toyota reliability. However, since the current Toyota President and CEO has no integrity and conducts business unethically, it's clear that the direct result of his poor leadership is the poor quality of multiple Toyota models, especially Tundra. It's tragic and as another member mentioned, Toyota has a big hill to climb.

GM sold Allison in 2007. The Allison transmission is not bullet proof either.

The 10 speed Allison is a good transmission. Some of the failures have been a thermal bypass. First thing I would add for 80.00

Here is the history. Good read.

We have a HD truck PM going if you want to join. Some catch up since it is like 196 pages now...mostly BS since our trucks have been pretty rock solid. Actually, we haven't had one failure now that I'm thinking about it.

The Isuzu built duramax is a great engine, why all the hate but OP could have at least bought the GMC version of this truck.

Congrats on the new truck and KUDOS on getting a great $$$ on the trade.

I'd love a GMC 2500 AT4 or the F250 Tremor, but my Tundra has been so good, near perfect and problem free at 96K miles is long paid off, so I can't see moving from it until forced to. Still......... the temptation is always there. One thing I can say is the Gen 3 Tundra has ZERO appeal for me.

I am curious about this as well and why folks choose the Chevy over the GMC other than brand loyalty. I think the Chevy price is a bit less, but are there specific quality or build differences, such as the frame.

Honestly the GMC commercials turned me off in the past — “THE” truck and all that. Seems a little pretentious. But now I’m wondering if it’s not such a bold claim.

They would've sold A LOT of Gen 3 Classic Editions. Similar exterior to 2.5, updated interior, V8 drivetrain with 10 speed transmission.

Congratulations. My Dad retired from GM, so I do have a family and friends discount. LOL. I am going to dance with the one that brought me though. We had some disagreements on a couple of posts, but congrats on the new ride. It looks good. Really nice looking truck.

GMC's are Chevy's with the bolts/nuts torqued.

Different looks for one and interior packages. The LTZ and SLT are not the same between the two.
