Front brake job on 2014 1794

Well at 32k I my brakes were done.
Unfortunately with many trip I had to reserve to this until I can order better pads. So Autozone Ceramic Quite Stop pads were installed.
It may seem like the similar way to the rest of Tundra years: 2007-current, but it may be useful to others.

Parts and tools used: 2 jacks, jack stand, torque wrench, big flat head screwdriver, flashlight (got dark too quick), C-clamp, brake cleaner, brake grease and of course new brake pads.

Took about 30 mins to complete the job, but may comeback in the future to repaint the rotors, calipers - clean look

Summary in pictures. ( by any means I am not mechanic, this evening I was limited on the tools I had with me and space to work with)

 

I put on the same pads. They appear to be holding up pretty well. Not a lot of brake dust too. My rotors were both slightly warped, so they got replaced at the same time.

 

How the hell did your factory tires outlast your brake pads? Do you drive with two feet?

 

32 k on pads? Wait is this a GM board im on again?

 

That's what I thought too but then again you know I'm driving tons of stop and go traffic. When I had a dealer inspect the truck there are two other trucks with 16 and 20 thousand on the clock with the exact same issue

 

Wow. 32k is way too early to need new pads. Do you tow a lot? In any case, I've had really good results from Power Stop products. Haven't tried the AutoZone pads you mentioned. Let us know how it goes.

Man, I got 130,000 out of the pads on my 2010 Tundra SR5, and they were not nearly as worn as yours when I changed them. And I towed a 34' travel trailer.

 

Just did mine also at 41000 miles. Old pads were about halfway.

 

Need to look into doing mine

I think its time for mine. My brake pedal is real soft and when I try a hard stop the truck has a slight shimmy to it. Mechanic said it might be a stuck caliper but I think it has original rotors on it and someone just replaced the pads. My truck is a 2014 and has 140,000 on it

 

So far, almost 70,000 on orginal pads. My penny. You can't do better than the OEM pads. Rotors. Yes. Pads.. No. Nothing feels better or stops better than the OEM pads.

 

Does anyone know if 2018 brake calipers fit a 2007?

That’s my issue. I want the powder coat red ones but rock auto doesn’t have any

 

I've had a 2011 4.6L SR5 TRD for just about a year now; I don't think the guy I got it from ever replaced them and it has 177k on it I don't know for sure but they definitely wobble and the pads are for sure at the end of their lives, it wouldn't surprise me if they are only the second set on her. I'm just laughing at 32k...that's rough. Any tips while I look for my own? I see OEM pads but are slotted/fancy rotors necessary for my pavement pickup?

 

I got OEM and am happy with them. Just don't get the economy line of brakes pads get the ones that come from the factory on it.

 

I did slotted rotors, the slots fill up after a while making them pointless, along with EBC pads. Many do the drilled and slotted. . I now have plain Advics rotors and Akebono pads. Put a few thousand miles on them, so far good...I'd look at Rockauto and buybrakes.com.
