Loose rear view mirror (due to extreme heat)...?

So, a couple days ago I was driving around and noticed that my rear view mirror was bouncier than normal. Upon messing with it, I thought it came loose at the ball and socket joint. But upon further jiggling, I noticed that the whole assembly was loosened. After grabbing the correct sized torx driver, I tightened up the screw that holds it to the windshield. No problems after that. I usually park in shaded areas except when I visit my grandmother on the weekends. At those times, I park on the street, in direct sunlight. These past few days, when the mirror came loose, we had a big and sudden heat wave. Could that sudden extreme raise in temps cause that main mirror screw to loosen? Has anyone else experienced this?

Yeah, I'm gonna do that in the next week or two. Just wondering if this was a common issue in sudden heat surges.

I live in AZ. It's been 110 average. No problems like that.

I dunno, I feel like the loose/rattley mirror thing is pretty well established and kinda pops up outta nowhere.
