I do have insurance on mine that would cover...if it was theft. But this is just worn out.

    Ouch! $5K!

I am praying mine is a simple gasket or even a bag. I will find out if they can get me in tomorrow. At least the camper is able to stay where it is and the family can spend the day here while I am at the shop.

Let us know how it turns out.
Hopefully, it is something simple and easily repairable.

    Good luck...

Will do. Thank you all. Tomorrow is the day to find out. Hopefully an easy fix and on the road before 11 AM. Going to try and get in at 8 AM.

It’s also possible you have grease or oil or something slung onto the exhaust and that’s burning off. Something like a torn CV boot or an oil leak would do that. Also, a missing heat shield…

so you might get lucky and it might be simple

With the floorboards getting hot, I would lean toward a clogged cat or muffler. Hope it’s the latter and not the former. Much cheaper.

But like @ZappBrannigan mentioned, my first thought was a fluid leak on the exhaust. Cam tower leaks are common, but are typically just a weep. They can turn in to a drip, though, and it drips right on the exhaust manifold and manifold heat shields. If oil is leaking on the exhaust manifold, the passenger side is right below the air intake for the HVAC and you would get a strong odor in the cabin. Anytime I’ve spilled a little oil filling up the engine after an oil change, I’ve smelled the oil burning off on the next drive.

I have zero fucking clue what either of those are, but fried Spam with bacon, eggs, and hash browns as a breakfast for dinner is the shit.

Spam, eggs and rice is a “traditional” breakfast in Hawaii.

After all that fat, you will shit. Plan your late morning tasks accordingly.

With that said, that does sound like a perfect hangover breakfast.

You guys are making me a bit nauseated. All this talk of aromatic mystery meat in a can. What's next? We gonna start sharing carrion recipes? Canned carrion? Pickled carrion? Carrion Musabi nigiri sashimi? I know there are some New Englanders on the site... maybe even upstate new yorkers...

This reminds me of family road trips where the “exhaust” issue in the vehicle had everything to do with the occupants rather than the vehicle. ;)

I hope it wasn’t an exhaust leak into the cabin and OP is in a coma or something.
