A Nissan dealer near me has a lineup of used Gen 3 Tundras on their lot, including a 2024. Must have been trade-ins from people seeking a Titan after being disappointed in their Tundra. I think your advice is solid and is what a lot of people are doing, getting a Titan.

One of the animal class trucks. Maybe RHO.

If its worth anything, I was on a white water trip and saw a guy had a 23 Tundra with open recall. I asked him if he's going to get rid of it and he said "Hell no. Toyota has been known to take care of these things and give very generous extended warranties. I have other, paid off cars, so they can keep this for as long as they need. If it goes how I want, I'll have a free warranty beyond 100k."

I like my Gen 3 1794 Tundra, but I wish I would have taken a harder look at the RAM 1500 lineup. Brand loyalty got the best of me.

My 2009 Titan served me well but isn't this the last year for the model?

For some, reliability is everything, others are concerned with the fun generated by the vehicle.
Some can absorb those costs, others aren't in a position to.

Buy what you like and can afford. Take input into consideration, but make sure you're not buying something to please some text on the internet written out by some random user name.

Whatever you're looking at, just know what it is and what it isn't. Be aware of what you need and what you want. There are always pros, cons and, some risk.

If there are any “if I was to” people around, I’m not sure I’ve come across any. There’s plenty of already have’s and about going to’s.

My decision and bed has been made. I’m going to lay down now and deal with the good times and the bad. No if’s about it.

That inline 6 twin turbo has my attention. Unless I have missed it, I have not heard anything negative about the engine. Its still early in the game so who knows how its going to sort out.

I have spoken to a few folks who have that engine, they all like it.

It will be interesting to see what another year of the engine brings.

If I were your friend I’d get a 24 Ford F-150 Raptor with 37 performance package. Bit pricey but it’s an awesome truck.

Here is my choices for half ton today

    1) Nissan Titan. Still has V8 and some respectable off road capability.
    2) Clean, low miles, 2.5 Gen, and adding the trans cooler sooner or later.
    3) GMC AT4 package and adding a DFM disabler

Well, what I was getting at is compared to the 3rd gen, it is simplistic. The powertrain is very simple for maintenance in comparison and tech-wise there is much less to go bad on you, but I get what you mean I suppose.

Thoughts on the 3.0 duramax? If I'm going GM, that engine would be the top of my list. I've read great things about it, no need to worry about lifter failures and DFM nonsense.

I traded in a 24 3.0 duramax for my 24 tundra. There is no comparison in power and the ride. The Tundra is better in both. The chevy felt more like a "truck" if that means anything. It pulled good but lacked the horsepower for everyday driving.

Interesting perspective! Usually I read folks going the other way ditching their Tundra for a 3.0 duramax on this forum.

I came out of an F-150 with the ecoboost. Letting go of the horsepower was harder than I thought. I looked at F-150s again, but liked the look of the Tundra better.

Any diesel with egr and exhaust after treatment is a hard pass. I would need substantial real world experience to buy into this.

only way I’d do this is if I needed to tow or haul for a business (and could write off the expenses ) and I had to have 900+ ft-lbs torque. So this is the 3/4 ton and up market.

half ton diesels are notoriously difficult to execute well. Especially since they fall under epa requirements.
