Looks great. Are fog lights gone in this set up?

For now, yes. I’ll toss in some amber fogs when funds permit

It wasn't very good. Reminded me of natural lite ice, but with less alcohol content.

Swapped out blown air bags this weekend. Job kinda sucks, but when you buy a truck at auction, you do what must be done.

The side curtain bags are the biggest pain in the ass of all the rest.

Added a 7ft Kammok awning —I wanted it to be flush with the camper side, so I decided to make some 1/4"spacers and thru-bolt it instead of using the brackets it came with

It was $850. I was able to get one of their outlet awnings that was "lightly used" but when it showed up everything but the box looked brand new to me

    (and @BreyTundy too)

Here's what I did for those 2 driver's side PITAs...

    IMG_0652.jpg

Took (2) of the large washers and (2) nuts down to a local welding shop and had them weld the nuts to washers; then weld a thin welding rod to each of those setups.... cost me $20 and save me a shit ton of time, frustration and busted knuckles trying to stuff my hand in that tiny ass channel.

I was able to easily slide the set up into the frame channel and secure the bolts w/o too much heartache

I've also heard of guys loosening the straps to the gas tank and dropping it down slightly, but this other route seemed waaaaay easier to me...

I'd love to take credit for the idea, but when I was shopping around for sliders I saw an install video for WKOR (they were my 2nd choice) and apparently WKOR started including a set up like this w/their hardware kits to make it easier on their customers. I just figured I build my own..

That's the ticket right there! I was also going to try and put the nut in the closed side of a box end wrench with tape over the back to hold the nut in. I've had luck with that before when getting to hard to reach places.

I gave that a brief effort w/some tape holding the nut in the wrench (once); then it was immediately parts in hand and off to welding shop a couple of miles from me... It's hard enough crawling my old ass under the truck to do that shit in the first place, but then add contortion of my arm, should and fingers while trying to make that work.... NOPE!!! I did give it an honest 5 minutes before going the other route... :D

White Knuckle Sliders came with those types of cheater nuts you made. They also had them on my gas tank armor. I forget which place I bought the gas tank armor from, I did not like RCI’s approach but bought everything else from RCI

I held the nut to where the wire attached could be tucked away and used when removing/reassembling

Ooh, that actually gave me an idea to use some spare wire to wrap the nut and washer to get them into the frame. Thankfully I've got tons of old wire laying around with my kitchen remodel. Look at that, the forum provides yet again

Lol, at 30 I've still got the idea in my head that I'm capable of contortion that in reality I'm not. I generally have to learn my lessons the hard way

Tape over the back of something to get a bolt/nut in place… I’m getting flashbacks to when I replaced the Front Valance Panel (plastic piece that will usually have the front license plate attached to it). The engineering genius at Toyota placed 6 nut and bolts in front of a metal bumper frame with about a 2-3 inch gap between it and the panel… that made it nearly impossible to replace the nuts. Using the power of tape, I stuck a nut between two fingers and taped it. By doing that, I was able snake my hand between the frame and panel and thread the bottom nuts back on. Awful, horrible, terrible experience that made an otherwise 10 minute job into a 3 hour one…

I have to admit that I was spoiled since I lived in a big city for quite some time (6 out of the last 10 years), and everything was within walking distance.

I work from home, and have a tiny all electric fiat to run errands with. I spent 8K on the electric garbage in 19. I will get all 8k worth of dollars from it.

That’s funny that you bring up an electric vehicle because my girlfriend and I were just talking about them. She said it’d be more practical for me to drive one of those to see her instead of my garage queen that only gets 13mpg. However, when I looked at used “smart cars” they were asking north of $12k to $15k for a heavily used 2019. Ccrrraazzzyyy! That said, $8k sounds like a steal.

I don’t think so, because I was searching for one too! I was going to start one in the off topic forums, but can’t due to my post count being below 50. Oh well.

There's a bikes and tundras thread. Nothing MTB specific, but there's a lot of mtb chat there.

I did see that one, but I was hoping to see a thread specifically for all things MTB — bike recommendations for different budgets, product recommendations, reviews, trail experiences and general advice.

Yeah it was just before a serious price jack happened to them. I was almost tempted to sell it right after i bought it, but it was only 3K more, and the car was more useful at the time. I worked in office downtown. It has just enough range to go to and from with about 20% left on one charge, and let me get into the HOV lane. 8 months later, I started working at home... Since, it runs errands.
