I'm not sure it's the brackets but who knows, anyways did you mount yours using this hole that's visible in the pic along with one more you would have to drill?

The S8 is a huge bar. It needs to sit back as far a possible. I went through this nightmare when I installed mine.

Let me ask you guys, once you cut the 3 large holes in the back in order to reach the threaded inserts and tightened them down, did that fix all your fitment issues?
I was trying to avoid cutting 3 large holes but don't see anyway around it using the BD S8 lightbar

The large holes helped, but, my hands didn't come close to fitting in, could of done smaller holes for the same result. I ran the wires between the hood skin and the inner brace which allows the wires to exit by the hinge for a clean look.

The holes and those screws are just for attaching the bulge. They have nothing at all to do with the fitment. Just barely snug them though or you will see dimples in the bulge.

I am having an issue, my bulge is not flush and popped out.. I think i need to push the mounts for the s8 bar further back.
Any suggestions with pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Just on the corners? It is a pita for sure. Remove the 4 mount bolts on the bottom side of the hood. Slide the bar back a little and put the bulge on, and then see if you can get the bar where you want it. It sounds like you may have to elongate your holes a little.

I’ve got the exact thing happening with mine. I’ve lived with the corners pushing up for a bit, but the worst part is that there is pressure on the light bar and it eventually pushes long enough to screw with the aiming and the light starts to point at the tree tops….

It is frustrating when we spend the money on “premium” SDHQ mounts, that do come with a template, and still have to fiddle with it this much.

I’ve got a Dremel and can slot those holes, I just want to cry about it a little…. ;)

Anyone else have trouble keeping their S8 solidly mounted? I’ve adjusted my mount so there is no pressure on the bar, but the damn thing will not stay tight.

I love my @Baja Designs gear, but the mounting style of the S8 sure leaves something to be desired. The OnX6? Beautiful. Mount is rock solid. It’s just the S8 that is a huge steaming pile of dog shit if you expect it to stay aimed.

I’ve tried different types of lock washers, both under the bolt head and between the bracket and the light. No dice. About to throw it away, but may work up a cup style bracket to hold the ends and have two studs on it first.

Just disappointing that this is what we pay for.

I'm using the SDHQ mount, over 3 years sofar and no movement. I have bottomed out a few times offroad and the light stays put.

Interesting! I’ve cranked these bolts down so hard I swear they’re gonna snap or strip out. Like I said, I’ve tried both split and star-style lock washers, as well as no lock washers.

I’m glad to hear that others are able to keep it in place, and curious what I’m not doing right…

    Hey @Chad D.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on our lighting. Could you please clarify which kit you're experiencing issues with? If you're referring to the S8 40-inch hood scoop kit, please note that it is not made in-house by us; it's made by SDHQ using our light bar. Regardless, we are fully committed to identifying the issue, whether it's related to the supplied hardware not securing properly or potentially a problem with the light bar's housing. We haven't encountered any issues with screws loosening on our S8 model, but there may be a possibility of a defective housing. I’ve just sent you a pm and would be happy to discuss this further over the phone.

Thanks for reaching out, Brahian. I do understand that the SDHQ mounts are not something that BD can control, but they’re effectively the same as any piece of flat 1/8” thick mild steel plate that you’d be able to mount the 40” S8 to via the supplied 1/4-20 bolts. I did reply to your PM and look forward to the chat in hopes we can figure this out!
