Yes. Get the Maggie TVS 2650. The original TRD Blower was made by Magnuson. If you go by the PSI chart TVS 1900 vs TVS 2650 you can make the same power with less boost or more power with the same boost and everything inbetween. The new Maggie canned tune is better too according to @snivilous

Labor/time will vary. 20 Hours is on the higher end but in the ball park. They may be padding the estimate for "what if". 10 hours is the lowest, but I think 15 is average.

Some places just ask for a partial or full deposit. This shop probably had a lot of people back out of orders.

Certified tech is also the requirement for the Magnuson 3 year Warranty.

Yes the TVS 2650 is less stress when you look at the PSI chart. Basically same power with half the PSI (restriction).

Magnuson has been in the game for a long time and their parent company, Eaton, makes all the TVS rotors including for Harrop too. It is very good kit.

The Supercharger itself is low maint and should only need service every 100K (coupler and oil) but the manual should tell you the service interval. Watch the intercooler levels and fire and forget. On the truck itself I chose a more accelerated maintenance for the truck. Oil at every 3K. I switched to 5W30 but 0W20 perfectly fine. Half the intervals on everything else engine and drivetrain related. Again my choice but not required.

Your last point is key: don't extra mod it and you should get good reliability out of it. Let the engine properly warm up before beating on it and enjoy.

    Two things to consider:
Take a code reader with you. If there is an issue with the install you can scan it before you get too far from the shop. Some codes won't pop until it is running for some time. Lets you have a better understanding of what is wrong. I'm not saying something will go wrong but if it does you know what codes are being thrown.

Get an AFR gauge at min; boost gauge if you want. Something to read temps of key systems via OBD 2 if you don't have one.

    Edit: +1 for PCV Catchcan.

Sounds like a great plan! Pretty sweet to get to keep the warranty if it is important to you. If I was to be able to make a minor tweak to it, it would be to have them install a higher flow fuel pump than what comes in the magnuson kit. If it was shipped to you first instead of going to the dealer I’d slip a Deatschwerks 300c in the box and take the magnuson provided pump out of the box lol. Future proofing, for what is enough power today is not enough tomorrow. Ask me how I know.

It could be worth asking if they would give you the same arrangement with that minor tweak but I realize they probably won’t agree to that. It just seems dumb to me to drop the tank more than once, when you could just put in a more capable pump to start.

As mentioned above, the standard pulley and tune will do you fine

    congrats

as mentioned in this thread, my oil analysis comes back clean every time. No wear metals.

i use the harrop 2650. Same thing, but different. It’s a solid unit

go order your afr gauge and have Toyota install it at the same time

I can say it one of the few purchases that pleases me everyday

this time next year we will be talking about your new intake and exhaust and smaller pulley and larger injectors

    it happens.

What do you recommend in terms of gauge? What do you have? I will sure order one and throw it there for the install.

    i use the aem gauges

    x gauge,I think

one is afr. One is boost

the psb, as mentioned above does both in one gauge

I use my boost gauges mainly as a mileage minder. Negative numbers are good

I use the cravenspeed steering column mount

Yes reading up on it the sound can be from lean but usually rich mixture. What exhaust do you have. The OEM exhaust single out must have muffled it completely. I heard nothing before.

If I see flames, I don’t think it would be a good thing… there would prolly be an entourage of buzzing cop cars and pitchfork-wielding villagers in hot pursuit.

    Congrats @JohnWhicker

Keeping the warranty is HUGE, though I am sad to see you not come to the turbo party. Looking forward to tracking the progress, and if you are ever in New England, hit me up!

This goes for any of you, btw. I haven't been in a SC Tundra, and I'm assuming the same for you all in a TC one as well. Happy to help fix half of that equation.

    At minimum a melted bumper.
I've seen an aftermarket kit for flaming exhaust....usually ends poorly.

That's what I was reading too. On GM applications you can adjust the deceleration fuel cut off (DFCO) which sounds like adjusts the fueling ramp down when you chop the throttle, but on the Tundras we don't have any adjustment for that so I don't know if there's a way to fix the popping. Fastlane47 has cats but still gets the pops, so that doesn't entirely solve it. But the only people I've heard that have it have long tubes, my truck for example has never popped in its life. Flip side my 2JZ Hilux pops if I'm at high revs and chop the throttle and it's a completely stock N/A engine without cats.

Once I gutted the broken primary on driver side and the passenger side to match I had the poping/crackling. Stock manifold, and DD cat back. Now with the SPD high flow cats I can make in pop and crackle at idle. I just drove a little today after install and it is more pronounced. I don't mind it though.

Dont forget to ask for the flashing dongle when you get it back. Its part of the kit and you paid for it. If at some point you want to get a custom tune done, OTT will be able to do it with that dongle and you wont have to buy another one or the credits to flash.
Im running the 2650 but I went with a smaller sniv pulley and a tune from OTT. Lifted on 35s this girl screams

Thanks for the details. Helps me understand.

I don't mind too much if I can figure out how to control it consistently. I only have the pair of high flow cats which is probably not catalyzing all the remaining fuel. Somewhat stinky.

Initially narrowed down the cause to ungodly high temps as of recently or the exhaust swap. Good to know I'm not the only one.

Plus side is city economy is up to stock levels now.

    Brap! Brap! Brap!

One more question. I just did the YotaWerx Tuning last week, silly me :) Do I need to restore the original ECU settings before installing the SC kit, or the Magnum TV2650 tune will overwrite it?

@Mcbelen any ideas? Do I have to restore it to the original before installing the Magnum TV2650 kit?

Like @Wynnded said, flash over it. However, maybe you can reach out to YotaWerks about providing a new tune for the SC. I'd think they would give you a nice price break since you've already paid the credits for tuning the vehicle?

Edit: I should add that as long as the dealership doesn't try to load a TRD SC Tune (I don't know why they would with Magnusson providing a new tune for the 2650), your ECU can be refreshed. If they load a Toyota TRD Tune, it will be as if they swapped in a new ECU and the existing YotaWerks tune would think you are driving a whole new truck.

For those who didn’t see since it’s on FB, this is interesting news on the tuning front. Sure would fix one aspect of our tuning frustration at times.
