Nice. It's not like there were going to be any consequences were there to have been any ...trans-gressions.

If I can do it, you can. John has a video or two on YouTube going over the whole procedure. It's pretty detailed with torque specs and all.

I was more nervous giving it to someone else that might have zero experience with our trans'.

I'm going to have to have a shop do the install for me. I don't have a vehicle lift nor a trans jack. Besides, I'd have to work alone, wrestling a 250lbs trans, I would likely suffer a transphalangeal injury.

Haha. I was referring to the valve body upgrade. No question that I would have a shop do the install if going with a replacement.

LOL. Ya, @Silver17 and I were merely having a little wordplay banter. But I am going to have a local place do the swap, it'll be a straightforward change out. It's a place where I've known the owner for a long time and I trust his judgement if he picks one of his guys rather than doing it himself, he knows my standards.

Same. I notice it when backing off the throttle after giving it gas.
My old exhaust must have been masking it.

Mine will make one loud pop when I let off the gas from cruising at light throttle. Did it before the supercharger too, though.

Not sure what DPs are? Down pipes?

I have the full Stainless Works system. LTH, hi-flow cats, and a modified Redline catback.

I did notice that the exhaust note when you get on the gas changed a lot with the supercharger. Sounds way different than it did NA

So I have good news and bad news:

    - Bad news first, me wife is gonna focking KILL me and feed me to the wolfs. But that will be a good death.

    - Good news is a bit longer. So I took @Ponderosa_Pine advise and try to locate a Toyota dealer in Houston that will do a supercharger install, keep servicing the truck and not voiding the maintenance. This thread here --> https://www.tundras.com/threads/general-supercharger-thread.85513/page-552#post-3623719

I called each and every dealer in Houston and none of them will touch it. And I was like fock it I won't give up so extended my search around Houston and start calling again. Well today I managed to find a Toyota dealer - Huntsville Toyota that is more than willing to do the SC install and keep servicing my truck and not voiding the factory extended warranty. I know is not in writing, is 50/50 but they said as long they do the install and the service and maintenance they have no problem calling Toyota for warranty if the SC is not the cause or not involved in the warranty call. They seem to have a good reputation and I think I will go with them. That being said I have few questions to better educate myself and I will break it down with few bullet points.

    - Decision: DONE, and DONE and DONE. I am doing it :) Hell YEAH
    - Super Charge Kit - They will only install the Magnum TV2650 and they will order it for me.
    - Cost is $8900 for the kit with shipping and $2000 for the install (quoted me 2 days job, 20 hours at $100/h rate. Money is not an issue and I am not gonna even argue about it.
    - I am asked to pay upfront for the kit to be ordered and shipped. Is that a red flag?
    - They say the have a certified master tech who has done several SC kits installs and that is not an issue. So I guess I will trust them.
    - This is a stock Magnum TV2650 install and I am told it won't add any unnecessary stress to the engine if I keep it that way and I maintain the truck and SC. Is than an accurate statement? I only have 5300 miles on this truck and it got 11 years or 125K miles of extended warranty
    - Is this Magnum TV2650 a good supercharger in terms of quality, reliability and maintenance? Am I getting into something stupid with this model? It this SC a high maintenance piece of work or just install it, set it and leave it, and of course maintain it?
    - I don't plan to extra mod it or over tune the supercharger, I am of philosophy, keep it simple stupid, so I hope that's a good approach. So my truck will stay stock the way it is right now, all around.
    - Any pitfalls or tips and tricks to look for during the install and after, I am not a mechanic and I am simply clueless :)

That's about it and I will spend few more days to do some extra research and I thing next week I am giving them the green light to do it :)

I really really appreciate the help and feedback Tundra brothers and lets go have some fun.

Thanks for confirming. Good to know. Old exhaust must have masked it well.

Mine's been doing it since installing the long tubes, before supercharging. I figured it was unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust since the cats weren't there to take care of it. I wish it sounded cooler, sounds like a big rock hitting the undercarriage.

^What @Mdl said. I chose an Innovate PSB-1 and it meets my needs well for monitoring boost and AFR. You will need an exhaust shop to weld in the o2 bung but that’s not a big deal.

As far as paying up front for the SC, I don’t see that as a red flag at all. It’s not a Toyota part that’s in their system that they just order from their supplier or another dealership. They are paying 100% out of pocket and if you back out, they are out all of the money as they don’t just put it back in inventory for trh next guy. It’s no different that you buying it and bringing it to them (what I did); either way you are paying parts up front. But now they have 100% paper trail on it in case it is incomplete or has issues. I wouldn’t be concerned.

My dealership charged right around $2k for install. Local speed shops wanted 2500-3200. I know the dealership has installed a pile of SC’s and it showed. There were several small things like hose routing and extra chaffing sleeve that they installed that wasn’t called out in the instructions.

    Now get it done!!
