It’s nothing like the power boost and the reviews from a lot of reviewers said theirs not much difference between hybrid and non hybrid. To me it should be more towards mpg rather than power that you don’t use all the time and the weight impacts power as well and you can see that from the 0-60 times

I sold my 22 hybrid in December and lost roughly $13k on it, I would sell gen2 tundra platinums with 90k miles for the same $12k or less drop in value.

Prett sure tha in order to have a battery system that can operate frequently and long enough to improve the MPG of something with the aerodynamics of an air brake you'd be adding weight and taking up space that would make it suck as a truck.

That’s why we need solid state batteries so then it would be more efficient but at the same time provide better power output more consistently. Not old technology that’s in it now.

Truck pricing is due to the greedy CEO and greedy dealers that love to tack on mark ups. Should have been an emissions complaint v8 with hybrid that’s standard. That would of been a lot cheaper than the over complicated ttv6

When are you starting production so we can buy this better and cheaper truck, since Toyota obviously has no idea what they're doing.

Yes, Toyota may have had this issue with the Tundra in particular, but their overall record remains pretty good, and as I said above, if there is any issue, I would still trust Toyota more than any of their rivals to stand behind their product with an effective solution. For example, despite this issue, I am currently on track to purchase a 2024 Tundra. Whether it is a bad 70K bet or not, we shall see.

I knew the gas mileage would not be great. 395HP I can't complain about.
I did not get the hybrid, didn't need it, didn't want to lose back seat space.
    Totally agree on cheap plastic.
Wind noise totally on drivers side window.
Brakes only squeal when in reverse, only only during the first start up.
    Turn radius does suck b@lls.
I should have ordered mine online.
Price I was able to negotiate. I also put $47k down.
Agree, but I haven't had mine long enough to know if reliability is bad yet.
Haven't had any turbo lag. I step on gas, it goes.

Thanks for Posting this! Very good insight! That damage is severe! "Main bearing is toasted." is a totally fair description of what he is showing. If this even close to what the others look like, I can't imagine this is a design defect. No way damage that severe would have been missed in all the testing this block design has been through.

Depends. Emerging defects post FRP (full rate production) after loads of testing of IP (initial prod) or LRP (low prod) products are not unheard of in any industry.

You can get a cherry pick effect in which the IP or LRP units are built until ideal conditions by the best trained techs working slowly and methodically. Then the production line goes Mach 1 and something changes with volume.

I’ve been tracking these since they released the 3rd gen. Had a deposit on a 22 and then moved it to a Tacoma so a member of the family could get an incoming one. Decided to wait, first year problems as always, looks like that was a good call.

just went and bought a 24 Limited TRD OR and I love it. Been very impressed. Before I allowed the deal to proceed I checked all the quality issue areas, that I’ve seen earlier year buyers complain about and mine was good so proceeded. Got what was essentially 11% off plus almost free financing. Great deal. I was critical of Toyotas reasoning as to the failures but having worked on cars for years, it can happen. We’ll see. My service manager said they haven’t had one come in for any engine issues. at least it’s not like the horrendous back seat in the new Tacoma.

almost like it better than my diesel ram. Am I concerned about the engine? No. Got the extended warranty. I’ll be changing the oil in December and sending it out to blackstone like I do with my other cars.

First time I heard that code was on a night shift working in an emergency room. We always had a member of the local sheriff's office on duty at the hospital at night. Randy was the officer that night, straight out of a print-a-sheriff-o-matic machine. Stocky build, manly mustache, short sleeved brown and khaki uniform, big revolver, black cowboy boots, just a little country. Car pulls up and a lady gets out and casually asks if we can come help her brother out of the car to be seen by the doctor "he isn't feeling well". Randy and I are in the triage area, I tell Randy I'll go grab a wheel chair, he walks out to talk to the guy. When I arrive with the wheel chair Randy has the door open and turns to me and says, "boys, I believe this here fella is 10-7". I had no idea what it meant, but quickly ascertained that the guy was, and had been dead for a minute already. No idea how she got him in the car. Had to later look up what 10-7 meant.

Believe it is "out of service".

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

Very nice, enjoy. The limited with the TRD pack and sound/tech is better value than going for the platinum. I didn’t want the hybrid engine, so this was a perfect combo. I think I paid 2900 for the 7yr/100k Toyota platinum service.

It’s usually the one I buy, I have a 4Runner also and it’s the same on that, that was $200 cheaper tho. Years back I had the v8 tundra and it needed some work, covered under extended and never even got a question.

What you say is all correct. However of all the manufactures of any product on the planet Toyota is likely very near the top of that list in knowing how to mitigate that possibility.

Yep, the hybrid was out of the question for me. I wonder if I can get an extended warranty now a few months after purchase?

You can usually purchase the extended warranty anytime in the first 36 months from in-service date.

I think you can. There's a long thread talking about extended warranty and how to get contacts over here
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/extended-warranty.106047/#post-2728620

There's a guy named Jerry who is mentioned hundreds of times in that thread. I don't think his contact information is supposed to be public so you'll have to get someone to pm you the details

I had Toyota check mine, all they said was "You need a second key", thats it. But if there are already 2024 Tundra Limited with motor issues, I imagine it's only a matter of time before it happens to mine.

Not to the point he's saying. And they're only guessing...thats why they put "1*" as the % of affected vehicles with the disclaimer that 1 = we don't really know. So they identified a potential pool (102k) as best as they can/were told to but they dont know how many within that pool are impacted.
