Spicer ujoint- which one(5178, 5213)?

Yes, I've searched...

2013 4x4 platinum crewmax- needs u joints in the rear shaft.

I've seen that the 5178x fits but o'reilly also shows 5213x as fitting my truck...but it has a slightly smaller cap size(30mm vs 27mm)?

I can get the 5213's locally but would have to order the 5178's- would I be screwed if I put 3 of them in? Seems like they would be easier to squeeze in but I'm afraid it would be too loose?

I'd rather get it done this weekend but I don't want to end up doing it twice.
Should I just wait on mail order?

anyone have experience with this situation?

 

Well, I did my brakes and rotors first and now I'm back to these rear u joints-

The guy at oreilly swears I can use either one but that doesn't seem right to me? summit racing website says they both fit as well??

Nobody has experience/input with either of these?

$27 5213X Spicer 5-213X U-Joint Kit 1330 Series (OSR)

5213X is for front driveshaft.

5178X is for rear driveshaft.

5178X is $18 each from Rockauto, plus shipping, if you want a reason to avoid O’Reilly.

both o'reilly and Summit say the 5213 is for either the rear OR front in ALL 5 of the positions as shown in these application charts-

Summit has them for $18 too, just didn't want to order the wrong ones... I know 3mm too big isn't going to press into the shaft and if its 3mm too small it's not going to get rid of my clunk.

I tried https://toyota-usa.epc-data.com/tundra/ to put my vin in but it won't load for me. I have 5 unanswered calls to my closest toyota dealer.

I found a thread where someone else used the 5178's so I guess I'm going to go that way and see what happens.

 

My comments are correct for a 2013.

 

I went to toyodiy.com and put in my vin- toyota part# came back as 04371-0C093

• Dimensions: Approximately 11.1 x 8.1 x 5.2 inches

That would confirm its the 5178.

It's really weird that online says 2 different sized caps will fit even with year/make/model/4wd selected.

 

5178x is correct for that Toyota part.

There were some driveshaft differences through the years, and the online catalogs don’t always show them correctly.

 

Hey guys, I know this thread is a few months old, but I am doing research myself and finally found the correct part numbers for my 2007 four-wheel-drive. I was also confused by the different sizes of the bearing caps, so finally got underneath the truck with a pair of calipers and verified that the three bearings with the endcap grease zert are for the main driveshaft and the two smaller ones with the zert on the body are for the four-wheel-drive driveshaft. I’m attaching pictures of the part number on rock auto for those original Spicer bearings that my particular truck has. Those are the larger for the rear, and these are smaller for 4x4 drive shaft.
