I'm not sure if I was referring to your website? Aren't you just on youtube? Whatever links I kept seeing posted by some specific members here were some pretty sketchy resources.

Are you this guy? That's what I kept seeing linked all over here, reddit, etc. I mean look at the header photo and the dramatic language being used. It's blatantly and strategically all geared to steer readers towards a specific emotion.

By the numbers, the issue should be accelerating dramatically. I doubt your first thought that social media is becoming bored with it. There is endless energy to hang on to stupid things. As evidence, look at the powerstroke issues that have by and large been solved years ago.

I don't know on your second thought. Maybe it's an infant mortality issue but I can't make that bolt up against the miles some were driven.

CLEARLY, the recall doesn't help value. That said, I drove by the Ford and Toyota dealerships in Asheville today. Ford has 119 F150's. Toyota has 61 Tundras and 3 used ones. These are massive amounts compared to what they usually have. This is a dinky market. Could be easier for them to give a reason to not want your trade vs saying we got Tundras coming out all orifices. Zero Gen3's that I could see in the service bays or on the back lot.

I've got to go, I've got a guy with a Toyota badge and sidearm knocking on my door....

If I had to make a prediction this issue will take off again next month when recall details come out on the remedy for this, and people see service bays with their Tundra in what appears to be a bajillion pieces all over the place.

At that point there will be no escaping pictures of torn apart Tundras here, and on every FacePage Tundra group, Instatard influencer account, TikTard account etc. It will seem as if there will be no end to it.

If we think we’ve seen pissed off members here already with trucks down for weeks it will get worse before it gets better.

I’ll bet a sticky on Lemon Laws and how to file state by state will be a helpful thread. It will see a lot of traffic if someone wants to start one.

We'll see, it all depends on the identification and remediation. There are an absolutely huge # of trucks out there. Other similar situations went on for several years.

I have domain knowledge on the Lemon Law stuff and thought about starting something but it's just not that fun. People want to argue the emotion of it rather than move through. Also, if I was going to bet, I'd say this one will have non-standard dispensation anyways.

The remediation will play a huge part in how owners take this in stride. That said there’s a certain percentage of owners who will lose their friggin’ minds no matter what it is, and throw absolute fits about it here and everywhere else.

If the remediation process does in fact involve big ass pain and more uncertainty (think rebuilding new short blocks into complete engines with left over original parts at the dealer) the wailing and gnashing of teeth is going to be epic.

As far as the Lemon Law stuff, you have recent first hand experience. It’s not fun, and separating emotions from the legal order of operations and timelines is no doubt tough. You might be doing a service by starting a thread that roughly lays out how things work.

We'll see if the remedy comes out in July. As I recall, Toyota has not said when they will post a remedy, only that recall notifications will be sent (mailed) in July. If they were wise, they'd include a remedy, but there is always a chance they still have not formulated a remedy.

The real question is, which come first - engine or fuel line fix?

Just a FYI, I talked to Toyota Corporate yesterday. They told me, directly to my...ear, the last of the engine problems were resolved in March 2023. Now I am hearing that is not true. Cany anyone verify? I have 2024 Limited 4x4, built Dec 2023. The wind noise from the drivers side is ATROCIOUS and I am worried the motor could blow at any time. I'm at the point now where I'd rather have Toyota take it back and I'll go get a GMC.

Am I overblowing (no pun intended) things or do I have reason to be concerned.

Read the recall which can be found on the NHTSA site and make your own determination. They note the cleaning process was revised in early 23, but then began testing bearings in late 23. Why would they do that? Why are units that fall outside the "fix" still failing?

We can infer a lot from the recall, but most of it is speculation until all the cards are put on the table.

You're gonna have to draw your own conclusion based on the limited facts we owners have. There have been reports of 2024's failing. If you haven't seen it yet, there's a spreadsheet that was being updated by a previous member. But, only Toyota knows the real numbers.

Hey, I just noticed that the spreadsheet was last updated yesterday June 17th so that kinda implies "someone" is still keeping track

Good luck with GM. Their warranty only covers manufacturing defects but not design defects. They often use that as a defense against class action suits.

Guess what: everything is a design defect to them because of that loophole.

As stated above, your level of risk is your call.
Here is the source for recall details: https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2023/TOYOTA/TUNDRA/PU%252FEC/4WD#recalls
Scroll to associated documents for considerable detail, including dates

I think new tundra owners or potential ones all want as much information as possible. Seems natural to want to have that. Good or Bad.

I hope Toyota does the unthinkable and doubles down on their reputation and goes above and beyond even if it’s just perception. Reach out and talk to the owners personally. Offer a longer warranty. Stand behind their product and why it’s better than the others and worth the purchase price.

At this point no one can say these owners didn’t have issues. They are real. So if Toyota wants to be just another run of the mill truck maker and or take the road of BMW depreciation then it’s going to impact their bottom lines.

When was the engine made? Perhaps they put in 23 engines in a 24 truck?

I just at the Toyota dealer this morning getting a gas cap and saw a 24 Tundra on the hook. I asked the owner what happened and he said he heard what sounded like a scraping noise and then the motor just quit on him. It had a little over 10K on it, about 2K towing a horse trailer. He hadn’t heard about the recall for the 22-23 years, he definitely wasn’t happy since he traded in his 2019 Platinum for it.

Yeah I see one limited 2024 limited in there, not good. I can't do RAM, French owned. The reliability is why I always bought Toyotas (this is my 11th brand new one). I am deeply disappointed.

It’s called “Just in time production”. They’ve been doing it a long time. The manf I work for adopted the same procedure.

I am putting on my tinfoil hat here but in the very early life of the 3rd Gen they were coming with 2 different part numbers for the oil filter. Hhhmmmm. Luckily for me mine always had the updated part number and I haven't blown up in 64k miles.

This is really sad because I just thought that the only oil my engine has "lost" in 18,000 miles was the small sample I sent to Blackstone. Except for the bearing issue, it is a real gem.

You are referring to Just in Time Inventory aka JIT. Great idea until Longshoremen paralyzed the West Coast ports.
