My thoughts after several hundred miles:

First let me say that I’ve been PMing with @mZiggy for several months, he always answers all my annoying questions, he is a good guy.

I had decided on the YotaWerz tune and purchased it based on reviews before I even ordered my Maggie 2650. I like doing all the work myself on all my vehicles. The support I got before and after my install has been excellent. They helped me get the stock tune up to date before going to the Maggie provided tune and helped me when I ran into problems installing the stryker tune.

Now onto the Stryker tune itself. Holy cow, the trans no longer gear hunts period. Torque is abundant at highway speeds. The truck will not downshift out of overdrive unless you give it significant throttle; I suspect the torque converter unlocks and it just pulls like a freight train Going 70mph to 90+ is effortless, even without downshifting. The power delivery is very linear and drives the way it should have from the factory.

Press the TH button and the truck turns on beast mode and shifts quickly and does not hang on gears like before.

If you purchase the Maggie 2650, you cannot go wrong with the YotaWerx tune IMO.

So review on top of review lol
Was previously running the Yotawerx Blackhawk Active Duty tune, it paired great with my LT headers and 5.29 gears, moved my 37s no problem. No issues, power and shifting felt great, was very satisfied with the tune. Maynard at MCBAutotech was awesome to deal with.
Of course didn't take long for me to decide I wanted more power  so reached out again to Maynard since in prior conversation he mentioned that he could do the install for me. Once again dude was great, he got me setup with the install and Stryker tune very quick after I had the SC delivered to me. Have been running the Yotawerx Stryker tune for a week now and man does the truck scoot. Power/torque is great, getting up to speed on the highway seems effortless now, and shifting still feels really good just like with the N/A Blackhawk tune.
If you're supercharged, going to get supercharged or just need tuning in general and you're in the Houston area, reach out to MCBAutotech. Imo the Yotawerx tunes are a very good option and I don't feel like you can go wrong with them whether naturally aspirated or boosted.

Sidenote got to meet @mZiggy when I dropped off the truck. once again nice meeting you dude, even if it was a short meet cause of the chilly weather lol :fistbump:

Currently running the KDMAX 10.0 tune. Like it a lot. Just got my new tune packs from YW. Waiting for my lift to be installed to flash. Prob drive for a few weeks first before I do.

Miami is the closest tuner to me and I wouldn't be able to go down there any time soon so I would need to have a tuning unit shipped to me. I don't know anything about tunes on these trucks so I have no idea where to start lol. I'm running 34's and a Banks Pedal Monster...does that count? Lol.

Where can I get info on the tunes? just looking for some preliminary info like pricing on the at home kit, and the different tune options? So far seems like I have to reach out to the tuners themselves to get info?

I used to use KDMAX before YW bought them out. I purchased the dongle, downloaded VF Tuner software and registered my truck through OV tune. This needs to happen no matter what tuning pack company you use. Bought tune packs and installed myself. Once you do it, it’s easy. I’ve tuned both my previous Tacomas multiple times and my current tundra. YW has two base tunes for the Tundra. A daily driver and a more aggressive tune. They can also make custom tunes depending on your set up. You may need to get your ECU updated before you can tune. YW also supplies that file with directions. Pedal Monster will no longer be needed with the tune.

Yes the ECU TSB updates is a MUST before tunes are being pushed. I am not sure if the dongle or kit is capable of doing the ECU updates. I think my guy used the TIS for the ECU updates if I remember correctly. But I am sure one of the YW guys can speak better for what they can do in your scenario.

I agree. They give you the TSB ECU update file used through Toyota Techstream.

my issue is that I don't want to reach out and have a conversation, and waste someone's time. I'm just looking for an approximate cost, and how-to if you do it yourself.

You can always go for the route of our remote kits. We compiled a nice intructionals that comes with the kit to make it user friendly as it could. I will also guide you through personally if you need support just in case.

Nonetheless, you will be getting the same great tune that is being discussed here.

You just have to reach out to the YW email address for the pricing as I can't answer you with that one since I'm a developer for YW.

YotaWerx and other tuners will tell you their base price but will also tell you pricing is up to the distributor since they have to build in their associated costs and what all they do.

But these guys all seem to make their money off having a good reputation and by word of mouth. Most I've seen on the forum are down to talk openly even if you aren't an existing customer. Either call or email.

Not my place to comment on this thread, but you're welcome to message or email or call me. Lots of people I've recommended YotaWerx to, and lots of people I talk to don't know the options and pricing of stuff (in general in regards to tuning) and I try to lay out all the options. If I tune your truck because that's the best option, cool, if I don't tune it because there's a better option then I'll recommend that since I'm not making a living tuning trucks.

Some things are better off discussed privately. I think is just simple business etiquette? There is nothing to hide or anything like that but I think is just better to do it privately. You have your lead here, they listened to you and invited your to take if offline by email or even phone. That is what I did and I got my tune literally the same very day :)

I definitely respect that. but its also not uncommon business to lay out some general information. This isn't something I'm looking to do or get done in the immediate future. I just stumbled on this thread, and was curious what the options are, what they do, what it would take to do it yourself, and roughly how much the options run.

like i said, because I'm not seriously considering this right now, I feel bad contacting someone, and having a conversation that would just be waste of their time.
