You got banned for politics, not being a squatter. Politics is against the rules here and the mods take it very seriously.

Also since i’m able to post now was doing an oil change last week and noticed a very slight tear in my cv axel boot. How worried should I be about that. Have no clue how long it’s been torn for but everything is working fine still.

Is it slinging grease or making noise?
CV's aren't too hard to replace, but finding OEM ones is nearly impossible these days. Napa has some for a fair price, $170 a piece. They will try to tell you they are left and right, but the truth is they're identical on each side. The good thing about Napa is they have a lifetime warranty. Just don't lose the receipt, because they will conveniently have no electronic record of your purchase if you try to warranty them without the receipt. I recently had to pay for my passenger replacement. But I'm going to go up there Monday and get a new driver CV for free.

Not leaking grease really at all. Noticed a wet spot on the boot which lead me to look at it to the touch it didn’t feel like grease but idk what else it would’ve been and also no noise. I will upload a photo tomorrow. Idk if i’ll attempt the replacement however watched 2 videos and it seems to be a little out of my wheel house.

You should give it a try.
Having the right tools makes all the difference. Definitely good to have a 2nd vehicle as you may require a trip or trips to the parts store for unforeseen incidents :eek2:

If an OEM CV hasn't lost grease, hasn't experienced dirt infiltration, and isn't making noise, then seems worth keeping and rebooting instead of using as a core swap.

Check your VIN but IIRC the Toyota part # 04-438-0C020 boot kit includes both inner and outer boots with grease and clamps. But if lifted much that can be a cause for boot splitting that would likely happen again so different longer inner boots are often installed. And the boot clamps are installed with a crimp tool. So some use worm style smooth inner rolled edge clamps especially if installing the longer boots that extend outward on the axle outside the indent where the stock boot usually goes. More info here on boot options with a how to video, although IIRC shows using standard hose clamps that some saw may cut the boot or cheese grate it due to the serrations in the band:

So do the mods actually send a patch in the mail? It would be kinda cool to have a patch jacket that you could wear around in the shop. I dunno just how many of those patches a guy could collect before they quit handing them out...permanently.

I feel as though the patch needs to be updated to with a different design. There needs to a tundra pickup embroidered somewhere on the patch.

yea sorry, you want in a free for all PM where all the memes are welcome? Sometimes 'spoilered' titties?

none of the bs on tv matters to trucks, and cant really be traditionally constructive. You cant really change or convert anyone with words or pics.

just wanna argue? Yea, thats in there. Welcomed even.

As it should be, this is a truck forum for fucks sake, not a place to air the political identity you hold onto, for dear life, as if it's enshrouded into your very DNA.

The lack of ability folks have to separate everything in their life from their politics these days is disturbing as hell.

I just packed it full of some Walmart supertech grease and used painters caulk to close up the hole in the boot. Seems to be working good.

Here’s a pic as promised. Rip not bad lmk if yall think id be better off replacing boot or whole cv axel. Decided i’ll try doing it on my own with the help of a buddy that knows a little about working on trucks. Watched videos of both and looks like replacing just the boot would be a pain in the ass.

Any rip is bad. Boot replacement is much cheaper than axle/joint replacement. Replace the boot ASAP.
