Interesting. I may have to give that a shot When I do my seatbelts


I did what PHM suggested for the seatbelts and it worked OK, not great, but mine are just so nasty. Then a friend told me he pressure washed his. Look good as new and now easily coiled back up out of the way.

I get fuzzy on who it was, I think either @NickB_01TRD or @HBTundra that showed a way to pinch the belt in the door so you can pull it out and pressure wash. There's pics on the forum, I'm hoping one of my two guesses is right and they'll know/link it up.

I also did this. Just pulled the seatbelt all the way out and shut the door on it. If the door didn't hold (it didn't on the passenger side) I got some vice grips and clamped them on the belt and then shut the door.

soaked the belts in purple power then pressure washed. Worked like a charm. Also grime collect in the guide. So I used some super light sand paper and windex.

 

OK, I'm giving it a whirl. This is embarrassingly nasty. This is from a guy who used to take his seats out twice a year and shampoo the carpet and kept it spotless in previous vehicles.

No way it'll ever look like new but considering I've got WeatherTech mats that cover most of the carpet I just need the sides by the seat and doors as well as around the console to look for respectable






P.S. I hate stereo shop installers. I'll never let them install another stereo again my life. Could've put the amp behind the back seat, but no, they put it under the driver seat. Always hot. So I had to disconnect everything to get the carpet out Hoping I didn't zap anything because Sparks did fly more than once

 

The amp power should be fused within 12" of the battery, and arc'ing that line should've popped the fuse.

I think you'll be surprised by how effective simple green on a nylon bristle brush is.

there are a couple of spots I wish I had time to go back over. I may. But I'm just so pressed for time right now.

it's not all gonna look that good. It really needs a second scrubbing and washing, but it will be light years better than before

 

That's going to be night and day. Seriously. It'll brighten up once the water is out of it.

While I had the carpet out and waiting for it to dry, I added this sound deadening mat that I got off of scamazon. Under 90 bucks for enough to do the floorboard and inside the doors. It was very easy to work with and cut and makes a big difference




Next up, I have to do something with my beat up and ugly driver and passenger door panels

 

Damn Weagle, I made the mistake of reading this thread and now you got me looking for Sequoia's with gray seats in all the local junk yards. Either that or I'll have to figure out a way to just add some permanent lumbar support because these sr5 dc seats suck for trips.

Your details in this write up make the first option look much more do-able (and appealing) than just stuffing another pool noodle inside the factory seats, well done!

 

I think all our seats suck for trips. Having power lumbar is nice (I have that in my '06 AC with charcoal leather), but doesn't solve back fatigue on 60 - 90min+ trips. I keep the ass-end of my seat down and lumbar significantly forward. Only helps moderately.

On that note, I still need to find a leather armrest in dark grey. Mine looks pretty rough.

 

it's made a hell of a difference on long trips for me.

I had manual seats before. it did have a manual lumbar adjustment, but it just didn't help me at all. So all you could do is adjust it forward and backwards and you certainly couldn't do that driving down the interstate

for me just being able to change the position while driving even if just little bit - raise the front or the back, adjust the lumbar – just being able to adjust your body slightly makes the long trips so much easier for me. And even though these seats don't have a lot of contour I've been impressed at how comfortable they are
