Just picked up my shiny new 1794 longbox in Mesquite. The thrill of driving a new vehicle off the dealers lot is a wonderful experience! With a gleeful punch of the throttle I ramp on to the freeway, reach for the radio screen and tap on the local rock station.
Spin the volume knob like the wheel on a price is Right.
    Nothing.
Must be my iPhone interfering with something; turn it off.
    Nothing…
    SXM nothing.
    Bluetooth streaming nothing.
Not even the chintzy fake engine sound from the speakers.

So yeah. A $95k CDN truck with three miles on the clock and the audio system is entirely dead.

Can’t say I’m still in that euphoric state I was in a few hours ago.
I’m now at the point I’m wondering what else is waiting to go wrong. What else was missed dying dealer prep.
After almost two years of waiting I can honestly say I was a Toyota fan for about 20 minutes. speechless.

It's a '22 with 3 miles? What is CDN?

Could it be a fuse? :monocle:

well, at least it's easily reproducible. Go back and let dealer fix it.

On my 2022. I had to download the Toyota App and make the free account to activate the multimedia. Sales man made me do it on the lot. I am also in Canada
    Radio is probably fine

What always gets me is when someone posts an issue with a newly purchased "new" truck, posts here first, instead of going back to the f'ing dealer. What do they expect from us? Troubleshoot the issue? WTF?

Almost *sounds* like you didn’t test drive it.

Not a helpful comment. This should have all been taken care of during the dealer prep. That would truly be disappointing.

I’d bet you’re right. A fuse is my first guess also.
To clarify, it was ordered in ‘22 and just came in (2024 model of course). interesting thing about driving the first 300 miles in silence is that I now know about the door window gasket rattles. Mine rattles on both sides.
Also there’s a deeper mechanical rattle that seems to be located behind the firewall on the passenger side. If you’ve ever heard a broken muffler clamp or bracket rattle, you’ll know the sound.
And to top it off, the pillar cover around the seat belt pulley squeaks.
The Tundra might be a lot of things, but quiet ain’t one of them.

Thanks for a reasonable response. our salesman was about 45 minutes late for our scheduled time. The vehicle turnover took maybe 15 minutes.
downloading the app, linking the truck to my profile, showing us the settings and features all took time. … checking the audio wasn’t a top priority.
The BIG question is, what else did they miss?
I paid for dealer prep/pre-delivery inspection and obviously it wasn’t done.
I’ve now owned a Tundra for 5 hours and I feel like I’ve made a mistake. dreamed about this truck for two fucking years and dealer has totally blown my faith in Toyota.
Do I have anything good to say? Yeah. The truck in 1794 trim looks spectacular, rides well and has power to burn. The headlights are amazing, controls and ergonomics are great, but for almost a hundred thousand … like do the damn PDI.

Know any good dealers that have a service department open Saturday night smart-ass?
And I can very well troubleshoot the issue, given enough time. Shouldn’t be my job considering the vehicle is a few hours old. I guess you missed the point of a forum being a place to share knowledge.
    Thanks for your valuable contribution.

You were a Yota fan for only 20 minutes after waiting two years according to you. I didn't miss any point. What point? Whining about Toyota and your new truck isn't sharing knowledge. It is a lack of due diligence though. I thoroughly checked my truck including the entertainment system before driving it away so I wouldn't have to post online about my faulty head unit that I didn't bother to even check before driving off the lot. You were at the dealer! Name calling won't get you far here.

You’re right; Coddling/ enabling a lack of personal responsibility is definitely the move here.

The good thing is that they will fix it. Toyota is good like that.

Hopefully that's not the lesson. We as a community are better when we converse with each other

It’s more than likely going to be a great truck. So enjoy it. Toyota/Dealer will make it right. It’s an inconvenience which sucks.

If you can’t take a little ball busting regarding the overwhelming irony of your post “How could Toyota / Dealer be so lazy and incompetent!?! Harrumph!
To the internet!!” then yes, lurking is probably best.
