….anyway was wondering if the Bore, offset, and backspacing are correct as I believe they are……still trying to decide on 285 75 16 or 265 75 16…either way will be an AT tire….I believe this wheel should work for either with the appropriate lift/level… @shifty` i haven’t forgotten what you said about RC, but I assumed you were speaking more of suspension stuff, and perhaps RC steel wheels would be acceptable….anyway any an all advice, or flaming is greatly appreciated!

 

Bore is a tad large at 107.95. So you'll need a hub adapter for that.

 

As Ninja said the bore a bit too big, I believe our trucks are bore size 106.1 to be hubcentric. Lots of opinions on this matter, for me I opted to stay clear of any wheel that wasn't hubcentric to avoid any possibility of vibration down the road. Having said that, there's tons of folks using hub rings without issue.

 

Many aftermarket wheels are lug-centric and not hub-centric. Opinions vary as previously stated, but you can 100% run lug centric wheels on a first gen without issues. I have over 6 years on my current lug-centric wheels with a 108mm bore and no rings, on a truck that gets wheeled hard and have not had any issues. I do not notice vibration on the highway either.

Hub-centric rings do not carry any load. Yes, they make centering the wheel easy, and may help minimize vibration, but not necessary.

 

Maybe the center cap would take up the space.

i doubt RC makes wheels. Too cheap to be u.s.wheel, maybe daytona or american racing, but who knows.

 

Cheaper and safer option is to keep the OEM wheels you have or find take offs for free. You could even paint them to change the look.

Black Mamba has a good point. Most affordable wheels will be much weaker than factory steel rims, and should only be used on pavement. Sans cheap steely's if you want to offroad most cheap aftermarket rims will be aluminum ( not as strong). I like my 4.5 backspacing, but yes my pro-comps are just for road and mud use. I will say, for $150 per rim im happy w them.

Anytipe of rocky terrain , stay away from aftermarket and I would have to second Mr. Mamba. Its the first thing every old man at local trail tells me. Why do you have your crappy aluminum wheels on when your truck came with strong steel wheels...its almost funny how many times ive heard it but they are right.

If your looking for cheap wheels. Facebook marketplace is your best bet. I've gotten a set of SCS Brushed Copper 17x8.5 w/tires for $500, TRD Baja Wheels for $400 and a set of 6 lug TRD Rock Warriors w/tires for $600. I collect wheels like most collect shoes.

 

I just saw some nice bronze 305 Methods with KO2s for $1k on FB Marketplace two weeks ago. Guy who bought em couldn’t handle e-rated tires.

 

Haha I know that feeling. I got e-rated tires for our GX. I was tempted to sell them two years later they have soften up.

 

250 usd is way too high for this cheap Canadian shifty……..my son is prob gonna fuck the wheels up as it’s gonna be his first truck…..gotta keep it cheap….lol

Hard pass on that blue set but that bronze set isn't bad. If you get them cheap enough it could be a easy flip to get what you want.

I don’t know anything about those RC wheels, they’re cheap for sure and might be worth trying. If you have alloys now I think you’ll need different lug nuts.

I’d look for some stock Toyota wheels with good tires secondhand and paint them black, lots of good deal can be had depending on the style you want and how long you want to shop, and then you know it’s a good quality wheel.

Looks are in the eye of the beholder so we may agree to disagree. I bought those black steel wheels you posted for a '92 plow truck's summer wheels. They were cheap and (to me) they look cheap. Everyone will know they're the cheapest black wheels available. Like the rusty old white wheels from the 80s, just painted black.

I'd never replace my Tundra's starfish wheels because they're forged and free: strong, light and the best use of my $. I'm afraid you might be teaching your son to pay for lower performance (all show and no go).

If you can't live with the starfish wheels which is understandable (I agree they're very dated), look for cheap oem wheels. $50 - $75 per for these good looking wheels is cheaper than cheap looking steel wheels. Paint 'em black.
