What particular motor oil are you all running on your 4.7 gen 1?
I’m always a diy guy, but without an auto lift, the removal & replacing of the underside brush guard seems like a lot of freakin work, I’ve been hitting up a drive thru Mobile Oil shop. My rig currently has 148k on the odometer.

6.5 quarts of Mobil 5w30 then just level slightly as needed from there. I use a long toyota filter. The under carriage is 4 or 5 bolts. 5 if I'm missing one front center. You don't have to lift the truck to change the oil. I never have.

I don't lift the truck and leave the skid plate on and pull the filter from above. Use 2 grocery bags and unscrew the filter into them to catch oil.

I won't get into oil brands, this thread will be 100 pages long. Most oils these days are good. I run synthetic in mine.

M1 is recommended probably the most here, and makes Yotas oil. However, seen some pretty poor oil analysis of M1 at 3k plus miles. I’ll be giving Pen platinum a try.

I run Pennzoil plat high mileage and the extra large Mobil1 filter. Takes about 7.2 qts to fill me up now. Change it once a year. I average 3-4k miles in a year. About $65 at Walmart for all supplies and have 2.5qts oil leftover.

Which oil you ask?...extra virgin guy here!

It shouldn’t take more than a minute to remove the 5 screws that attach the splash guard and probably closer to 20 seconds with an impact driver. There’s plenty of room under the truck to not have to use ramps or a floor jack.

Mobile 1, 5w-30, 6.5 quarts with a Toyota filter, and new OEM drain plug gasket every time. I also take the skid plate thingy off too, and do it with all 4 tires down.

Edit to add: I've been doing it this way for 23 years, it's not that hard, and with the skid plate off you can eyeball the underside with a light and look for potential issues at each oil change.

Iv been putting in all 7 quarts of Mobil 1 5w-30 high millage for the last 3 years vs the recommended 6.6 quarts. OEM filter always.

5 bolts for the splash guard, im lifted 2 inches so no lift or jack needed.

Oil change is about as basic a diy as you can get. Skid plate is annoying. It's part of the job. Just has to be done. 90% of the diy on a vehicle will be laying on your back on the ground. That's how it is.

I've done one oil change since buying my Tundra. I used Mobil 1, because where I live is rural, and I'm regularly in other towns, some big, some small. Pretty decent chance anywhere I find myself will have Mobil 1. Good enough for me.

Costco or Wallymart 5W30 Full Synthetic (or any brand of same) + OEM filter every 5K miles. Bam - problem solved on Tundras!

I do not remove my skid plate. I replace the oil filter from above and slide a cardboard box piece onto the skid plate under the filter to redirect the oil drainage.

Hmmm....I know I've seen people talking about different things they've done, but that's the most simple I've heard yet. I have the rubber "wings" on either side of the metal skid plate, but I wonder if I could still rig something. I'll look closer at things.

If I were keeping my 2019 forever I would probably swap for a TRD skid plate to have the oil filter trap door. Or mod mine to make one.

Nope. Keeping the 2000 forever. This truck pulls the camper I don’t really need more. I’ll sell the camper and find a smaller one that better suits our use. Don’t need a mobile apartment anymore.
