Was just trying to find a photo or video of the correct physical gasket so I order the right one. There looks to be two different ones. One single rubber ring with a single rubber tab. The other is like you posted with a steel looking flange and rubber o ring with two rubber tabs.

Yeah, maybe you do only get the O-ring style gasket.

I just used your vin and that's what came up...

The problem is I have a cold air intake and the tb doesn't attach to that elbow anymore it's direct fitted to the Intake manifold. So there isn't any ring channel for the gasket. I could make a liquid gasket if needed.

Lol I know it's a piece of shit. I looked into getting a stock airbox already. Told the seller "everything is great just wish you wouldn't have put that intake on it" Guessing I should just buy some Honda bond ht gasket maker for it.

Wait... it doesn't/didn't look like this under the "4.7" cap? This might be an in-between year because the plenum is aluminum, but this TB is like yours.

he gots an 05. So it should be the black plastic Intake manifold.

IIRC I had no gasket. I just did the throttle body clean 2 weekends ago. It should be 3 bolts and a nut. Unplug the throttle body DBW. And clean away with the cleaner of your choice. Don't get all mean with the flappy-flap.

then Youtube or search here for how to relearn throttle position.

your truck will be VERY UPSET on the first start up after cleaning the maf and TB. Don't worry. Let her work shit out. It's more of a personal problem and doesn't involve you or the cleaning she just went through.

edit: here's the vid for our trucks

This is my tb in it's current configuration. I don't know if this is the stock mounting location as I have an after market intake and the diagram metalpete posted has the tb mounted after an elbow that I don't have.

If somone can confirm if I need to make a gasket or not that would be awesome. Or if mine is even supposed to have one in this location. I really appreciate it.

I think I have a much bigger problem right now Tho. I just took that TB photo after a major 10 minute down pour here in Forks. There is water on both the battery and intake.

I am worried I've been sucking up water in the intake or something it's entire life. I'm about to see if I can insulate it with a heat shield housing or something.

Looks like no gasket then. Just don't wanna be missing something I'm not aware of and continue to run it. Does that amout of oil look normal in the manifold?

Possibly If I can get all the stock components I am missing. Not sure as I haven't seen an oem box on a truck to compare. I have a friend with a 4.7 I never see. Maybe time for a visit.

Could water have gotten into your engine bay before the oil change? There was a huge puddle in federal way right by the old $1 movie theater and I'd fly through it in my T100 and it would run like crap until all of the water evaporated. (of course rather than fix anything, I just kept blasting through the puddle)

oh man, yours isnt blocked off entirely. So I retract my trade offer.

but yea, just watch that video. I remember cleaning my shit and it was exactly how that YouTube videos TB was. Took all of 30min

I will say "no" butttt when I reached in with a towel sprayed with tb cleaner. I had a lot of carbon come off. I just reached in as far as I could go.

My hood was closed all day. I just opened it after it rained for 10 mins and saw the water on the intake cover. I'm going to order something to cover it. It has a water blocker cover on it but I installed that. It didn't have it with the previous owner and he parked outside in rainy Portland. I wonder if it's been sucking water up it's whole life since getting an after market intake. It worries me.

Although it looks like that's a puddle of oil in the intake manifold and not water. I left the puddle. Didn't have anything to reach in with and clean it out.

I had to edit in the text I thought I added to that post. I'm not trying to trade you. I'm trying to find a cover for my intake to prevent water intake now. But honestly I'm probably gonna get rid of this truck this summer. Too much bs.

I'm pretty sure that's what that orange sock is supposed to be for. But if it's a knock off. It's probably dog water

I bought the orange water filter directly from them. It's like a silicone coated micron sock. But is it really gonna totally prevent a rain soaked cover from letting water in? I'm too paranoid for all that. Gotta figure out a way to enclose the top.

Well shit. All signs point to a gasket existing, so it seems you should have one.

Crazy that the TB doesn't line up with the plenum better.

Damn, he is. All it says is Perma, no details. I've been spending half of every day since school let out hiking with the kids so I'm missing out on a lot. If you want to know, I'm sure you can PM the mod who posted the ban in the BST thread to inquire and they'll share if they feel they can. Mods are approachable on this forum, I'd encourage reaching out to one if you genuinely need anything.
