Thanks I just looked at the angles and I agree. I was just about to post this photo and say knabores is right I don't need to waste with a diff drop. Maybe it really did just come down to the shop I brought it to.

This. I have far worse angles on mine. Just get some 70-90mm. @ToyotaDude posted part numbers for all the clamps here, all you need is the 70-90. And slap a new grease packet in while the boot is loose, after you cut the Oetiker off. https://www.tundras.com/threads/noticed-a-grease-line.143776/#post-3614277

I just ordered those sway bar links with new outer tie rods. Will pop those in with the cvs.
70-90mm straps you're saying right? I have new straps with me.

I'm talking about getting rolled-edge worm drive clamps. A lot of people have issues with getting those Oetiker clamps tight enough. For around $2/clamp, you can have rolled-edge (so you don't cut your boots) clamps that you can tighten until snug, and if they still sling, tighten a bit more until they don't. That's the downsides to Oetikers: You need a proper tool to tighten them appropriately, and once they're properly tightened, you can't go back in and adjust.

I was reading the screw on the worm drives throw the cv slightly out of balance and that people throw a second one on 180degrees from the other. Is this not the case or insignificant weight? If my new cvs sling after install I'm gonna be screwed paying for the work then paying for the worm drives after to be put on. Should I include worm drives and ask them to put them on the new cvs before install?

At this point the new ones gotta go in no matter what clamp I use and I'll have to rebuild the old ones later when they're out of the vehicle.

You can literally pull into any gas station parking lot, cut the Oetiker clamps off and install the worm drives with a nut driver or a screwdriver. Easy peasy.

Plenty of people on this forum are using the NORMA Hose Clamps (p/n 01266704080-000-0543) for that specific clamp that's seeping, and I've never once heard someone complain about throwing anything "off balance". They're wildly popular in the offroad world for exactly this purpose. @FrenchToasty I had to be tagging you all damn day but I know you've got these bastards installed IIRC, are you having any obvious issues after the (tens of?) thousands of miles and all the offroad trips you've been on? Did you need to put two clamps on with the screw at 180° from each other?

Sorry I didn't see your link at first. I'm gonna return the oe ones and order these. I'll probably cut the tickers off the new cvs and put the worms on before I give them to the shop.

@shifty` your it! Hahah tag away!
I’ve had no issues slangin the slop, my 4R buddy who told me about them way before I used them hasn’t reported any issues, and no I only used one per seal. I think they have a decent slip band? So it doesn’t just bunch up all at the threaded slide area. I thought I paid attention when I put them on to have the tail trailing the revolution……. But somehow I got it backwards and the tail leads the revolution, but no issues snagging anything either

I am ordering the clamps now and my only question is why are the 90-110mm listed here.

Don't I just need two of the 24-40s and two of the 70-90s?

I have no idea. I just know for that specific inner clamp, you'll want the 70-90. For the inners, you can see my measurements on the boot that tends to sling here for OEM CV axles.

As you can see for yourself the larger clamp is 78.4 and is the bastard that slings. You want your worm drive clamp to have a range where the area it needs to clamp is near the center, so 70-90mm is ideal. The smaller clamp is 38.1 so you'd want a 30-50mm. I haven't seen anyone sling grease from anything but that 78.4mm clamp though.

Oh those are the clamps for the inner? I'll order those but it's my outers that are dumping grease not the inners. So I'll order 2 each for the inners that will work for 38.1 and 78.4. Now I just need to find the outer boot strap sizes.

I'm sure someone can crawl under their truck and grab the size info off the clamp, but those may be the other clamps @ToyotaDude posted.

Man fuck that drive way. It's like sharp gravel but with larger rocks 1 to 3 inches. Shit hurts.

I don't think these straps are oem. That or im lazy with these rocks and need to back the truck up, wire brush to clean the strap to see the numbers. I got the boot kits from doxon toyota of auburn then took the kit to that 4x4 shop to have em put on. Your straps look alot nicer. I have 2020 vision and I could not see any numbers anywhere. I didn't reverse to rotate them though.

After todays visual inspection it looks like 38.1s are used for the smaller side of both the inner and outer. The 70-90 looks to be for the larger side of the inners. The 90-110 looks to be the larger side for the outers. Both cvs are slinging from the outers wheel side. First 4 photos are the Two inners. Last photo is the driver side outer. Was just seeing if I could see any numbers.

Looks like im ordering x4 30-50s, x2 70-90s, and x2 90-110s for the new axles. And then the Same for a rebuild of the old ones which I'll document when I do em.

I'd specifically get the Norma/Toro. If you don't, just make sure the edges of the clamp are rolled/rounded so they won't cut into the boot. @ToyotaDude left links in the post I linked (or I think I linked).

He listed these after the norma.. are they not rolled as well?? I just paid for them. I'll have to cancel if not. I went with the carlyns because they were w4 stainless.

Both those Norma and Carlyns were rolled edge and smooth inner wall. And I found talking to Bell Hardware super cool if you have any questions about the parts. Per their web site:

Normas: "430 stainless steel band and housing, plated steel screw"

Carlyns: "W4 grade, 18-8SS throughout the clamp (inlcluding the screw head and housing)"

Yes think you are correct about the quantities. But IIRC used 25-40 mm for the axle shaft side like listed not 32-50 mm.

Should be able to verify dimensions needed if can fit a caliper around the clamped area then do the math where circumference = pi x diameter. In other words measuring the cross width of the boot channel then multiplying by 3.14 should roughly be the clamped length. IIRC hard to fit a caliper while CVs are installed but can wrap a piece of fishing line or something that won't stretch around then measure that length.

For more details including video and write up on swapping boots can refer to this:
