I had a rattle underneath my 05' DC 4x4 and found my rear driver side bilstein was loose on the top mount and had been bouncing around. I am mostly worried about the shock mount and if it is damaged, and whether or not it may need to be repaired or replaced?
I sprayed with PB blaster the last two days I was kind of hoping I could just crank the nut on top tight again and be able to drive safely for the time being?
The boot on this paticular shock was hanging and mostly torn off. I have attached pics and appreciate any feedback!

Why’s the metal washer puckered like a starfish? If it was normally flat, I’d say you’ve got an issue with it and it most likely needs a weld repair patch to reduce the hole size.

I’d say it’s not unrepairable though since there appears to be plenty of good metal around it to brace the force of the shock from a new plate of steel being welded in there.

I’d like more pics. Clearly a new shock is called for but that looks more like an internal clamped piece of the shock than a crumpled washer to me.

And I’d be more worried about the delamination I'm seeing in all that rust more than the shock. That’s pretty rough.

You didn’t buy the shocks on scAmazon by chance, did you?

Why do u ask? Are there some shady bootleg Bilsteins sold on scAmazon? I had them installed about 4-5 yrs ago. I'd have to do some research as I dont remember where I purchased them.

Possibly. scAmazon and fleaBay are both widely known for selling counterfeit/knockoff parts, especially automotive, small engine, and appliance parts. We had one guy on here who bought 5100s off scAmazon, and they came with very suspicious shaft ends that weren't finished like any legitimate 5100.

so...ummmm....where’s the upper shock bushings? The shock stem is threaded only partially, and the nut that’s currently on there might already be threaded down to the very ends of them.

Or can i not see the bushings for some reason? If they’re scamazon/fleabay Philistine 5100’s, perhaps the bushings were made out of old tennis shoe mid soles?

My guess is OP didn't install them properly. And I'm pretty sure that shock is completely blown, and what you're seeing up there is a cap that was once inside the shock.

OP had them installed. The bushing is collapsed and pushed thru.

    That is correct. Thanks.

I think I bought them from auto anything, but not positive.

Any recommendations on where to go for decent new rear shocks other than bilstein? I'd like to just pick some up locally rather than wait for them to ship, if I can. I live in the Milw area. I called around for bilstein and it's special order everywhere Ive called. Thanks again guys
