Hey all, hope you’re staying cool! While looking for new tires for my 2020 TRD OR, I got this message on DTs website saying that they will only install tire sizes specific from the manufacturer. I’ve always used DT for some years now and never had this happen. I’m currently running Falken Wildpeaks AT3s in 285/75/18, bought and installed at DT. Prior to that, I was running the same size in Cooper XLTs, also bought and installed at DT. I definitely perfer the Falkens, but with the new design the weight is just too much , so I’m considering the Cooper’s again but this may be a moot point.
Has anyone had an issue with DT recently? They have been a great company for years now - consistent professionalism and customer service at multiple stores in Idaho and Arizona. I hate the thought of no longer using them, but if they’ve changed their policy it is what it is:(

Are you shopping by vehicle or size? I would call the closest store near you and ask but I have never seen a tire store have a policy like that.

I always shop by size because typing in the vehicle automatically limits you. I’ve seen the “Tires may not fit” caution before, but never the staunch warning.

Interesting... I wonder if they actually adhere to that in-store.

Costco has had a policy for some time that they will only go up one size.

Yeah I had this happen when I bought tires online with them including installation. If you buy tires only or install only etc they don’t care. They also don’t care in person.

So what I did a few times was pick a vehicle with the tire size I wanted (like a Raptor) and check out that way haha.

Right otherwise you won't get what you want and don't ask at the store - who cares.

Their website does that if you choose shop by vehicle. Just do the shop by size and they will install them. Should be no issue. If online order is giving you a problem just call and order at your local store.

So if I want them installing 40’s on my rock crawling blazer they won’t? That’s dumb. Last I checked there’s no safety inspection for tires outside of making sure they have adequate tread depth. Wonder if this is because some people are trying to run the wrong load ranges or something.

The thing is I always shop by size
I haven’t yet called one of the stores for confirmation, so maybe my concern is all for nought. Or maybe there’s been a recent corporate directive and the policy is now written in stone. Realistically, customers going up two or more sizes than stock probably only make up a very small percentage of DTs business.
I’ll keep y’all posted on what they say.
