IMG_0067.jpg He claims the Tundra needs to be brought in every 5K to update software since I bought a computer, lol. I find that hard to believe. I paid for the maintenance, wheel and paint protect. I do my own basic maintenance. Which models come with the active spoiler? Mines a 24 SR5 4x4. Thanks.

I'm taking mine in next week for the first 5k stuffs. It's no extra charge, shouldn't be an issue.

Must be a 24 thing because my 22 has been rolling right along with out it. Besides software updates are on line, my play station / iPhone / iPad / router/ more less my house does it all the time. Sounds like hooey to me. My 1794 has the active spoiler.

They could be trying to pull a fast one, don't know. I'm just chalking it up to them doing preventative maintenance. My buddy just did his 5k for a 24 Limited, said they just checked stuff, updated the software, standard stuff and no charge.

    Nitrogen filled tires!
Rotate tires, check fluids send you on your way. 20K / 24 month Toyota Care. Oil change at 10K but you might get them to do it at 5k. IMO should dump initial oem oil before 1500 miles, change at 5k and every 5k after. Doubt they will update software unless it is a TSB and you have a copy of it to show them.

You can check under the front of the truck to see if you have an active spoiler by looking to see it. Or you can deploy it by having the truck in park and then turning the engine on and off again and then with in a minute after turning it off pull the turn signal arm toward you and letting go and that will manually deploy the active spoiler. I think that is the order to do it. I have not deployed mine in a long time that way but I know it can be manually deployed when in park and the engine on and off.

@ARB1977 The short answer to your question yes the finance guy did pull a fast one on you. You know this because its the finance guy and that is literally their job to pull a fast one.

Things like Wheel and paint protection is where they make their money selling those things that are almost useless. If you paid additional for scheduled maintenance outside the first 2 years that is included with all new Toyotas and you do all your own maintenance that also was a waste of money. If it isn't' an extended Toyota warranty then you got a fast one pulled on you and even then its always better to buy that else where and can be purchased from any dealer up to 3year 36,000 miles. The same Toyota Platinum Warranty could be $1600 or $5000 and the only difference is the price the dealership charges you and all you have to do is shop around.

If it is the Toyota maintenance package, there are instructions in the packet from Toyota how to get a refund. I think there is a $50 processing fee deducted iirc. I bought a used Toyota and it came with it. I cashed it in and got over $1000 back.

I would also recommend going back and re-read all the docs you signed. I know, most people read the first paragraph and sign, but I have a habit of reading fine print (past habits) and actually saw I can cancel my Toyota extended warranty for pro-rated refund, minus some processing fee or something.
I ended up not cancelling it because I forgot, but also the price was actually pretty good so I kept it, and when my starter went out, it was replaced under the extended warranty, so I figured that was a save, and anything else from there will just be making the investment back on the warranty.
I am not saying all extended warranties are evil, some like them some don't, and that's ok, we each like different things. But if you think you are handy and generally are very "lucky" (defined very loosely here) then by all means, go ahead and cancel it and get a refund.
I, on the other hand, as handy as I am, know that sometime down the road shit will hit the windshield and I will be left wondering about that warranty.....

It covers tires, wheels, dings, nicks and such. Also oil changes for 5 years or 50K I believe.

I guarantee you when you try to use it there will be a reason the tires aren't covered or the wheels or the nicks. Those are all cosmetic things that don't matter and actually filing a claim that will be paid and fixed will be painful. When you need new tires buy new tires and buy road hazard that will actually cover damage.

Had a similar paint thing sold to me the very first car I bought new from a dealership about 16 years ago and the one time I thought I had a paint issues with peeling the dealership could have cared less even though they told me it was nation wide told me to come just drop it off for a while and they'll look (I lived about 3 hours away at that point). That showed me to never buy that kind of shit coverage again because it is essentially just a way for the dealer to make money and they have no intention of covering anything ever. Younger me was stupid and regretted purchasing that crap and I personally would try and cancel all that crap you bought but if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy keep it. I have purchased about 8 or 9 vehicles from dealerships over the last 16 years and as soon as you tell them no with a stern NO! to that crap they instantly know that I already know what they're selling is complete and utter dog shit.

Your life your choices but I personally never buy that stuff unless it is an extended factory warranty which I'm going to do a 10 year 100k for this in the very near future.

50k worth of oil changes is only 5 oil changes on Toyotas schedule. I thought some were included on all, so your only getting 3 oil changes extra?

He'll try to talk you out of it. Most likely easier to call or email Toyota per the agreement terms.

Good luck, you will need to be relentless and don't expect him to be available or return your call..... they will try to avoid you till you get past the cancelation period. Literally don't take the answer of well he's not here as an answer and if they don't return your call after a single day call Toyota Cooperate and complain immediately that they are being unresponsive. I've had the same run around when I had a question about early pay off immediately after my purchase of my Silverado because you always get a better deal with financing through them because they think they can make money off the financing. They also were delaying on paying off my old truck and would not return my call or he wasn't there (seemed like he was never at work).

It took close to 2 weeks for the ya-hoo's to get back to me from the dealership and they only returned my call after I called GM corporate and then magically they called me back immediately. All I'm saying is don't' be patient what so ever.

When I bought mine I negotiated online and told the salesman I did not want any offers for financing, warranties or anything else from their finance manager. I told him if he did, I was walking away.

Showed up, walked in to the finance manager, he had the contract ready to go, I wired the funds and was out the door in 10 minutes. I've dealt with enough of these finance guys, and wasted too much time dealing with them.
