Being able to deflate it for storage, remove it by myself, not giving myself a concussion when I smack my head on the top, the fact that it fits my 1st AND 2nd gen beds and has completely removable windows which also includes the window to the cab which is perfect for double cab/crew max windows makes it worth it. It's a neat topper. I got their sleeping deck too and I'm using it as a standalone bed in a tent right now so it's dual use.

It's all fun and games until you come outside and someone is pants-down fucking your truck in the ass.

Those daisy flower wheels have gotta go. They look so wrong. The wheel-size-to-body-ratio is interesting though. Very futuristic looking.

They make pretty reliable trucks, and the engines used to be the shit. And if you're going to buy GM, Sierra is the way to go. Usually more luxe than Silverado. Sierra was always considered to be more of the "old [gentle]man's" truck, and was equipped as such. At least it was at one point. Dunno.
What Mr. K said, in a nutshell. I'd add a bit more to say ...

I grew up in a GM household. GM was generally reliable, and capable of doing the work, so we bought GM. It became a generational thing, "If you buy something GM, we'll always have spare parts and knowledge in the immediate family". I spent most of my life with my DD being a GM vehicle. all my trucks were GM. I didn't buy the Tundra until we bought a couple of Toyotas as family/DD vehicles, and saw how stupidly reliable they are, and kinda kicked myself, like, "What in the fuck am I doing driving GM when these Toyotas require half the maintenance/have half the problems?!"

Beyond that, I'd say it's similar to Mac users vs. PC users, and how they operate. i.e. just like using MS Windows vs. Mac OS, you get accustomed to the quirks that come with owning GM vehicles versus a Ferd, a Dudge, or other. It grows on you, it becomes familiar, what you know and understand, and doing anything different usually doesn't produce favorable or "typical" results. So you just don't go there, don't do that, because you don't want or need to change or adapt. Human nature at its finest - you stick with what you know, so you don't need to grow/adapt/change. We hate change, unless change is "something we know". Huge part of what's wrong with the world today.

But I also came from a family that didn't have a lot of $$$, thus couldn't afford to pay other people to fix stuff. In light of that, you needed something good, something friendly that used Imperial fasteners and whatnot, something American so parts were plentiful and cheap compared to imports.

I think there's also a reliability component that's potentially disappeared. In that light, I'd liken it to Moog. Moog was absolutely the shit up til 15-20 years ago when they started to offshore every-damn-thing in their production. Now they don't even make their own parts. But you'll still find MF'ers praising them to high heavens because it's what they knew. The reputation lasts, despite the clear drop in quality.

is that a possibility in atl? You'd get chained by the ankles & drug through town if you tried that in tx.

I don’t think that’d fly in ATL but with population density comes a higher number of crackheads and crazies, so …

But growing up they were thee affordable quality replacement part to get. I remember my dad swearing by them. That's why I got pretty much all Moog parts before I joined the forum. Well the tie rods will be the last set of Moogs to be pulled out and I will never use a Moog made part again.

It was all I used up until probably 2006-2007 when I saw the decline. The last parts I bought were on my '68 C10, rebuilding the front suspension. Idler, pitman, etc. It just wasn't the same stuff. I almost went back a couple of times, and probably even recommended their stuff out elsewhere on the WWW, but I won't buy any of it today. It's garbage. Most of what's on the market today is garbage, because it's built with profit margins in mind, and not reliability/longevity. At least if you spend the extra money on OEM, you're almost guaranteed to get a long-lasting part.

They don't want them to last forever, so you throw it out and buy a new one. They can only sell a new vehicle once. It's wasteful, greedy, unsustainable capitalism at its best. Or worst... Worse yet they are only American in name now.
It's like the total opposite of Toyota. Who take pride in their reliability and cautiously approach new tech much slower than the rest. They also have a culture of doing things right. Too bad the Americanization of Toyota is changing that reliability factor.
Cram as much BS tech in as possible and give discounts on the overpriced bloat, so you get locked into payments. Then your shit breaks a.few.years after you finally actually own it and you trade it for a new one and the cycle continues.

Ok ladies and dudes, some of us are aware the rear axle on an AC is narrower than the front hubs. I've currently got Spidertrax 1.25" hub centric spacers on all corners. But I want the rear to match the front. I'm tired of my bulbous limited fender flares in the rear looking off compared to the front.

That in mind, I been looking into either 1.5" or 2" hub centric spacers for the rear. I've looked at Bora, but their website is not cooperating. Next up is KSP, where I can get four for the price of two Spidertrax or Boras.

So my question is with 1.25" front spacers, which rear size would get me closest to being even on all four corners? 1.5" or 2"?

So ideally I'd want 1.75" rear spacers to match the front 1.25" spacers. So I guess either the 1.5" or 2" are both close enough choices. It'll come down to whether the extra poke would limit rear flex by making tires hit fenders I guess.

Not sure why you’d need an AR-15 to shoot ducks, but okay. Maybe if it were full auto, it’d make sense.
