There's a lowered Dodge Dakota in town I keep seeing. The bed is tan but the cab is black. I want to find out if he's got a V8 and if so, I wanna race em.

Yes in the lowered V8 nightmare.

 

Most people forget the 2000 Tundra 2wd V8 AC was the fastest 1/2 ton production pickup truck in 2000.

 

Yeah I like to remind people that the power to weight ratio of these trucks was very impressive compared to everyone else with their larger displacement back in the day.
I'm not sure if the Dakota is a V8 and if so which v8 it would be. Truck appears to be a late 90's model.

Forgot? Hell, I didn't even know. That just furthers my thinking that there's something wrong with mine. It's very, very slow. my 4.6 2wd DC work truck with 3 toolboxes loaded up and a headache rack would shame Ironman all day long. Even before the lift and 33s.

So that covers the 5.2 and the 5.9, but what about the 4.7?
Think a Toyota 4.7 can beat a Dodge 4.7?

 

Easy. The powertech or whatever 4.7 was garbage.

 

As a former Dodge owner... Some late 90s Dakotas came with the 5.2L (318), it won't be the 5.9L (360) unless someone swapped one in.

 

That's what I thought as well, but according to wikipedia they came with all three V8 options thru the second gen.

That said, what say you on the 5.2 vs a tundra 4.7?

I knew of a 5.9L Durango RCSB in the mid 90s. Red. Had the 5.9 badging on it. Son of the guy that owned the Dodge dealership in Shreveport, LA drove it.
