What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Soon-ish once it’s out just a plug and play remote start kit.

 

This update for the Maestro is awesome. Were you able to do it via the USB or did you have to pull the Maestro out to update? I have a 9500es and have wanted to have trans temp and more PID info show up!

 

Depends on the model. The RR you have to physically connect to the Maestro itself with a usb-a to micro usb cable that supports sync ($5 Amazon works fine). The RR2 I believe supports it via Bluetooth.

 

I pulled my Amp power steps and installed Go Rhino Dominator Xtreme D1 steps.
I like 'em, hoping to cut down on the door dents.....
I got tired of replacing parts on the Amp steps..

 

I don't have the RR2, looks like the stereo is coming out when the firmware is available publicly.

 

When you do that, run a USB cable from the MRR to one of the kick panels, that way all you need to do is pull the 15A radio fuse and connect your laptop to the usb cable. The reason for pulling the fuse is that the MRR cannot have power connected when doing the programming.

 

I didn’t even think of that but good call. Mine is mounted directly behind the radio so it’s pretty simple to get to anyways.

After 4 years, some of the LEDs on my grill are going out/flickering. Friend of mine had success modifying/backlighting the lettering on his Pro grill so he took some measurements (we actually put some parchment paper on my grill and did a rubbing) then contacted the same guy who made his lighting. Man, this guy does great work. Even has threaded inserts to secure each letter to my grill (screws included).

I plan to R&R the lettering on my grill then use these. Considering some seriously good dbl sided tape or clear epoxy. Any suggestions would be helpful.

 

Small but awesome upgrade! I replace these on every truck I buy.

I have these exact steps on that truck. I don't know how, but I drove over a branch on a small narrow country road and the branch hit my passenger door. So don't hold your breath lol I'm not sure how it even happened, branch was on the ground. I'm gonna throw rock sliders on that stick out further to hopefully help with crap on the ground and door dings from cars as well.

I will say otherwise the steps have held up well.

Bought my Tundra just about 1 month ago, after getting t-boned in my Tacoma and needing a replacement. The Tacoma was paid for in full, but needed repaired and there was a price difference between it and the Tundra, so I had to take a loan.

Today, after selling the Tacoma and scraping together some other funds, I did my favorite mod of all time; regained my debt free status (besides our home) by paying it off!

 

Swapped the factory sport red TRD sway bar for OEM black sway bar. Ride feels a lot less rigid/jarring over rougher roads. On 275/70/18 duratracs d rated 6112/5160.

Congrats! How are you liking the Tundra compared to the Tacoma?

 

It was a good move.

The V6 Tacoma was so high revving to get any power out of it and the cabin space, while mostly adequate, was just too tight for a family.

The Tundra has that low down power that makes every type of driving (daily, towing, offroad) feel effortless, the cabin space in the CrewMax is perfect and the 38 gallon fuel tank means I don’t have to stop at the gas station 1.5 times a week like I did in the Taco (which really only got me ~185 miles until I was at a 1/4 tank and wanted to fill up) which I greatly appreciate with a young kid and busy schedule.

I can see a bit of a drawback in size while off road, but I don’t often aim to take the super tight Jeep trails so I can live with those limitations I feel.

 

I agree that it is a bigger truck, but in the same breath I'll say that I'm always surprised how well these trucks can squeeze down trails that seem too tight. You just have to think skinny thoughts

 

I was just looking at a 2019 until I found out that the 3.5L V6's have had quite a few engine failures.

 

Talking about the oil starvation at an incline issue? It wasn’t really common, definitely not enough of a reason to avoid them. I only had my 2021 for 30k miles but it was dead reliable.

 

Yeah, it visually feels much bigger from the cockpit, compared to the Tacoma, but is realistically only like 5” wider? So no that bad at all really.

 

The secret is its unnaturally tight turn radius for its size.

 

Don't discredit its ability to make trails wider by breaking off branches at speed...

I drove mine for the first time since my operation on April 15th. Just drove around the loop in my neighborhood and exercised the 4WD. Hopefully the collar is off my neck next week when I go back for my follow up

 

All too aware of this ability
