    A few folks have used those torsion spring things, dont think i've seen any hydraulic (or hydronic).

    lots of dents
    At first glance i thought it was regarding a hydraulic lift gate...which i'd really like to install one on my truck, but it would kinda kill the versatility of the existing bed and tailgate.

    I have that tailgate easy lift assist and it's absolutely great. But doesn't help it dropping down besides being lighter. I want to eventually get some dampeners for the way down.

    Yeah, should’ve been more clear, I was referring to dropping the tailgate down. A previous truck I owned had a factory installed tailgate drop damper, it lowered slowly and raised with little effort.

    The third gen Tacoma dampener works on 2nd gen Tacoma with a bracket and some cutting / grinding. I did mine and it’s ironically too good, I have to pull open lightly to get the tailgate to drop. Not joking about that. Even with MH panel.

    I wanted one bad for the FGT and it’s heavier tailgate so I went to the guy’s house and dropped off my truck for the morning while I did a little 26.2 but he didn’t see any viable plan to fit the same dampener in our trucks.

    He does make a nice anti theft bracket though, I have one on 2 of my 3 trucks (which reminds me, I need to bug him for the ‘05 Tacoma because the anti theft bracket he makes isn’t compatible with the tailgate dampener mod.)

    I haven’t installed the torsion bar yet. I’m almost considering a custom flatbed to maximize utility but I do love my stock bed. It’s just a bit beat up and my shell leaks so not sure how much more I put into that setup.
