PSA: time for your annual water heater drain and flush. 100’ of hose connected to the lower drain valve run out to the drainige ditch in front of the house. Water turned off to water heater. Power turned off to water heater. High pressure valve on top opened to facilitate draining. After emptying, did a couple of water on flushes to get as much debris as possible. I tried to pull the anode rod to see the condition but it’s rusted on there. Just gonna ride it I guess. Closed the drain and rinsed the hose out, opened the water and left the HPV open to allow the air to escape while it filled. 8 year old WH that I moved to the garage from inside the house and drained and flushed about a year and a half ago. This is one year of sediment.

sweet christ - I would recommend putting a decent size strainer upstream of that thing and piping the strainer blow-off to something you could hook the garden hose up to. If you're getting that much shit in a year and a half, you should be trying to catch it before it ends up in the tank.

Just did mine two weeks ago. Didn't get anywhere near that amount of crud out. That's wild. I forgot to do it last year so it had been two years since my last flush. Definitely good preventative maintenance.

We have hard water that kills water heaters way before sediment ever does.

No need for hose at my place, concrete floor with a drain right there to drain water heaters.

I challenge all to drain and strain and see what comes out. It will surprise you. I usually let it run out on the driveway and don’t appreciate how much build up is in there. Using the tote lid really showed how much was in there. That’s probably 90% of it, there was some that spilled right over the edge while it was draining.

Looks like you were runnin a sluice box  Did you pan it out?
I replaced ours in 15, and have flushed it once...? Have not investigated the anode though. From what I researched back then that is almost more important than the flushing?

Lol as for the tree, I honestly do not know,I was under the impression it's a cherry blossom but I'm no arborist by any means.
This a little retaining wall to divide pea stone from the grass, and started the side of the garage and should finish it this week.

    Definitely need a filter.

Just did a drain and flush like you mentioned...got nothing out of an 8yr old WH. No issues with water flow out the drain valve...must have good city water I guess.

Spent the last 5 weeks straight gutting and remodeling my kitchen! After 25 years of having a 60’s kitchen and refusing to pay a premium marked up cost to a general contractor when I am one myself! Our kitchen came out amazing!

    Love the view!

I had the best kind of home improvements done....

I just got back from 9 days in Hot Springs, SD visiting my mom and doing a small baby shower; followed by an unplanned (thanks DFW/American) stay in Dallas. While i was watching Tatonkas and opening baby gifts, my neighbor moved my propane tank for me to get inspected and cleared up my open land again. I will get some pics tomorrow. I have drafted my plans for the pump house and will spend the next couple days working on the fiber run, 30amp installation and deck demo....

Going to be a fun few days. But for now, I present to you.... an emo buffalo:

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
Not a big project like the ones above but my 18x18 patio needed a facelift. It had settled years back and instead of paying a company to raise it I put down some Quick Crete ReCap and floated it out. And I found at my local Lowe’s a Spread Rock that is for patios, around pools and garage floors. Durable in all climates and chemical resistant. I also replaced the stair treads.

Does the Spread Rock resist mold / dirt so pressure washing would be less frequent?

I'm on the fence about Spreadrock and similar products. I've read it peels/ chips up after a while. However, that could be due to poor prep from installers. Any reason you opted to use 2x6s vice 5/4 boards or was it just because it was originally 2x6? My deck uses 2x6 (and are in need of replacement), but I prefer 5/4 boards aesthetically. So, I'm seriously opting for the latter when I undertake that project.
