Each to their own. Again rules are meant to be broken. This theme seems to keep coming up...

Easier said than done. There are different degrees of trust. For example there are people I could leave a thousand dollars cash out in front of them and not worry a bit that anything would be missing. There are those that I can trust with not damaging my stuff if they use it. To date, I've got zero people I trust at a level that I don't think I'll be lied to, manipulated, or dropped for a more preferable option/plan/get together. I do not trust that I am anyone's priority as I've yet to meet anyone, including family, where that is the case. There are just varying degrees of honesty about that fact that makes me prefer people's company over others.

I know that everyone doesn't do these things. I'm not blind. I see plenty of great relationships and I am happy for them. I am not opposed to finding a great woman and having a happy life with her, but she's going to have to bust her ass to prove that is what is going on.

I'm in the fixer upper category, is all I am saying.

Rather than worrying about finding "her" I'll focus on enjoying the little things in life and if she happens along and proves out, then that's all well and good. If she doesn't, then I've not spent my time pining for something that wasn't going to happen.

The karmic cycle is a bitch. When we don't give for the pleasure of giving we lose. When we give for the expectation of receiving we have a distorted outcome. We must lose ourselves in each moment to be one with ourselves and only that. For more, will only cloud the outcome.

I don't give with expectation. I give because it makes me happy, but when that giving gets responses that would suggest there could be more I am foolish enough to believe them. Then they set the hook and I wind up gutted afterward. I'm just not taking the bait. I still give and I'm kind, but I don't pursue anymore.

I have been to Tanzania. Too fast on a death sled, too stupid on a death sled. I would never go without a local guide who speaks Swahili. I do not trust the police there. I would never trust the medical system. You MUST have medical evacuation insurance.

Norally is more well travelled than most, so I figure she knows what she is doing. At the very least she is aware of the risks and accepts them. The accident wasn't even fast and I've seen her go over similar stuff a bunch. It was just one of those "it's your turn to wreck" moments I guess.

I do agree, though, I would not travel lots of places she does. Especially alone. Big brass balls on that lady.

Alright, in my late night roamings at work I am starting to look into checking out other parts of the lower 48.

In the not too distant future a buddy and I will set out on our Death Sleds from Casper, up to Buffalo, and over to see Devil's Tower. Neither of us have ever seen it. Then he wants to pop over the South Dakota border into Spearfish. He said there is a canyon there he wants to ride that is a bunch of sweeping turns. Looking at google I think he's downplaying it because he knows my comfort level in twisties is not very high and he's hoping I'll just roll with it. We shall see. Some where around Spearfish or Gillette we'll get a hotel (way cheaper in Gillette) as his riding limit is about 300 miles in a day. Lots of old Army injuries that make him sore after about 4-5 hours on the bike. Then we'll take the same route back to Casper the following day.

The fun thing is that if I make a trip out to Middle Michigan to visit Raina in the future, then this route will basically be a preview of the first leg of that trip. It lets me do a little scouting so at least the first portion of the trip will be familiar-ish. It'll also let me know if I'm out of my mind with wanting to do longer trips on the Super Tenere. If this little foray is more than I care for on a bike, then I can always take the Taco and save hotel money by sleeping in my RTT on my way out to see the pupper (and maybe the Hodag) in MM.

In this same line of thought, I have a question @LarryDangerfield : if you were to recommend a place to stay in your neck of the woods for a night or two, where would you suggest? Where would you 100% avoid?

This will be the route. Pure Gas stations as waypoints and one café just to get the route the way I wanted it to go.

So if you are wanting to stay at a hotel, my city actually just built a brand new hotel and is in the process of building another so I think either would be a good place to stay. If you are wanting to just find a spot to park your truck then I can give you tons and tons of places to do that.

If I rode the bike it would be a hotel. If I take the Taco I'd definitely be down to camp.

Devils tower is really cool. Lots of good rides in South Dakota as well. Let me check my notes but I think Custer state park in SD was pretty epic. Paved.

    Edit: yep Custer state park.

He was very much so. I’ll post up some before and after interior pix later. I had to bring those leather seats back to life as I do not believe they’ve ever been cleaned or conditioned since 2020
