The @Voss Truck is catching some eyes lately, and I dig the @FishNinja curated "fish around and find out" vibes.

Its not a thing, but it should be.

Maybe i'll set up a poll around halloween. Give folks time to work on their glamour shots.

You need criteria too. Like how much work has been put in within that year.

    Maybe some different categories too?

I think the poll should go up a week before x-mas, and close on Christmas Eve. That way I can sit around smugly on Christmas Day as the champion.

Also, I volunteer to make a bitchin' trophy.

Different classes? Stock, super stock, unlimited?

    gets complicated.

everyone gets to submit a pic for the first post, and everyone can vote once. All discussion about the details can be worked out in the thread.

I'll need help coming up with a clever trophy sticker.

Yeah thinking about it it does get complicated. Maybe one grand champ and a few sub categories? Access Cab/Double Cab/2wd/4wd/biggest jump/ fastest odometer picture/:rofl:

Stickers would be a fun way to make it an annual thing.

Just took mine for a grub run. Damn she sounds good when I give it the business. Sounds so much better than my hamster-powered Ferd which sounds like, well, nothing. It's very quiet inside the Ferd. Lol.

I have the bypass harness, but it still needs the factory connector in order to plug it in. I need to replace the factory connector since previous owner cut and mangled it. But I decided to splice directly into the wires since 80% had already been cut.
Now I just need to know what to do with the remaining wires that don't have anything to connect to.

Great vids here by this guy takes the mystery out of autobody painting. He covers prep including fillers, sanding, guide coating and blocking panels, airflow during spraying, wet floor techniques, HVLP painting, as well as simple rattle can painting too with pro looking results.

    https://m.youtube.com/@PaintSociety

Think for first layer adhesion usually want about 400 grit (like for primer). To cover sanding scratches with paint 400 grit can be considered fine for solids, and 600 - 800 is better for things like metallic and pearl* or sanding between color coats to get smoother finish**. 1000-2000 grits are often used over cured finish coats then buffed with compound***.

IIRC single stage rattle can paint won't usually cure (quickly at least) like paint with hardners mixed and laid down with a spraygun, although can get two stage 2k paint and clear coats with hardners in a can. But have found testing over time even some of the cheapest single stage gloss can withstand brake cleaner later without coming right off but perhaps just dulling, yet flat can just re-solve and come off. And have found the rustoleum gray sandable primer dries quickly, can then be wetsanded (following the instructions), and seems to withstand wiping with things like brake cleaner without coming off later when fully cured.

HF had a decent HVLP gun for cheap (<$50) that coupled with a few $ more for a regulator, swivel joint, and disposable moisture filter connected at the sprayer ... along with a compressor that can push enough CFM (and a respirator) ... can lay down some good finishes after practice with two stage auto paint (adding hardner and reducer).

Good to put an oil filter at the compressor before the hose too and can make a good water separator out of a coil of copper sitting in a bucket of water if want to go the full nine yards.

    Some reading on sanding prep:
