Nice to see them using hurricane brackets on the joists. I don’t think code requires it, but I do like overkill.

It will be nice to get more use out of this side of the house, it’s steep and turns into more or less a cliff.

As a matter of fact we’re at eye level with a robin’s nest.

Went into escrow on the house I'm selling yesterday, and then about 45 minutes later went into escrow on the house I'm buying. Lots of negotiating on both sides. I feel like I lost 5 years of life. But very happy to be moving forward on both sides of things. The new house is on almost 6 acres with a lake at the bottom of the property. Kind of in shock we were able to pull it off. Definitely a dream come true for us.

    The new house.

Just finished this deck at my sons house. Took me a week, by myself. Them kids always want help but to busy to help. It was fun though.

Yeah we’re very lucky. Bought it in 2013 back before prices got pants on head retarded in the Black Hills.

The mommy and daddy robins are big mad. One of them buzzed one of the contractors and took a shit on the poor guy today.

Yeah we have those bastards around too. No nests this year though.

We also get turkeys roosting in those trees and our GSD and Rottweiler can see them at eye level out the window. They both lose their damn minds, we have to close the blinds. LOL.

At our old house in CA, it sat on a hill, near a golf course. The dogs would literally sit behind the dog door, just waiting to see one and then take off after them. I think they only caught one before lol. The rest were lucky enough to escape back into the hills.

They may be small, but hummingbirds are assholes. They like to nest around my house and under my porch and will dive bomb the hell out of you if you dare walk out the back door.

Birds are evil little shits. The worst ones are doves, or if I'm trying to fish, ducks. Unfortunately my wife has informed me I'm not allowed to shoot them. Some BS about scaring people at the lake, breaking the law, blah, blah.

My love for other birds should make up for it, my son had an emotional day at the zoo: there was a bird drowning in the flamingo area so he ran and got a zookeeper who saved it and put it somewhere safe.

We have a pond with lots of ducks and geese. The geese like to fly directly over my trucks and shit all over them. My lab has already murdered two of them this year.

All the decking is down, they might adjust one of the rim joists to get the Trex more even.

We hope so, plus it allows for actual use in the back. Finished out to 25’X12’ I believe, 300sq-ft of outdoor living space is better than none.

Tough to make out in photos but we can see the Fall River down in the valley as well.

Hopefully the rails get up tomorrow, and next week install the gate (keep the dogs off of it), and if possible get an electrician to install some power outlets, and get some post cap lights for the railings.

Looked at it. I stuck with the best grinder on the planet though it's not cordless. I've used these for nearly 15 years in the welding trade and I don't think there's a tougher grinder on the market.
