I'll consider those then, thanks! I have my rear camera wired into the stock taillights so I'm still unsure if I can wire to their harness or have to move further down on the trucks harness for the rear camera power activation.

Did you happen to need to do the same by chance?

Didn't have to splice anything since my backup camera is factory.

There's ample room to splice off their wire loom although I'd likely tap before the factory plug location.

I did add some wire protection sleeve to their loom just before the factory plug location though.

Just ordered the same Vland taillights off Ebay..$199+tax in case anyone else has been looking to buy. Made an offer at $199(they accepted), but lowest I saw was $219, maybe someone can get an even lower price as that was my first and only offer.

Decided to remove the transmission coolinNt warming puck, coolant piping and thermostatic valve. Installed engine oil cooler with Baxter Performance adapter and thermostatic sandwich plate. Switch to my summer 0-40w with 9.75qt fill, complete transmission WS ATF drain/fill and all diffs and T-case oil change.

Took a drive on the xway running 82 mph. While in 5S. Transmission stayed locked up 90% of the time. Did not miss the truck downshifting on the hills.

Wait so if I'm reading this right, you removed the factory transmission oil cooler puck on the side of the transmission and attached your own?

I removed both coolant puck and thermostat and attached elbows for the atf oil lines to the cooler. The land cruiser uses them where they don't need the puck and thermostat.
The elbows need o-ring, 90301-11030. I ran my thermostat pinned over the winter and decided to remove them. I also disabled flex lock from the torque converter. I don't want any excess heat being generated in the transmission.

so you're running a trans cooler with no thermostat? I was planning on adding my own cooler and doing what you did, but I was looking into getting a thermostat for it. When you do trans drains you just have extra fluid added for the added cooler and lines?

also just trying to completely wrap my head around this, but we do have different transmission models... the 90 degree fittings you added, those don't screw behind the oil cooler puck, they screw over to the side where two lines come out of the transmission correct?

I stated it was a cooling puck but it's a warming puck to help trans get up to temp quicker. The 90 deg fittings go behind where the puck would be. The puck sits on top of thermostatic valve. Without the warming puck it took about an extra 15 minutes to come up to temp.
There are a few people in the south that run with the thermostatic valves pinned open year round.
On a budget you could pick up a standard trans cooler make your lines and use the fittings. But it would require removing the warming lines and splice in a hose to the coolant lines from engine. The cooler and lines add about .75 quart of atf.

Seems like 19-21 tundras have only that puck as a means to cool.

So are the ATF in and out holes threaded? But the thermostatic valve doesn't take advantage of the the threads and relies on the mating surface around the holes for a seal?

If the trans sees hot coolant than to me thats not cooling!
Yes. Some market areas dont utilize them and use the threaded elbows. The transmission supply and return are threaded and recessed for o-rings. The thermostat and puck have the o-rings and puck has 3 tangs that is bolted to trans.
If one lives in a warm climate you could probably add a trans cooler system for under $150. The Toyota elbows were $16 ea and a trans cooler can be had for $50 adding some hose or tubing and you got yourself a budget trans cooling system.

Thanks for the info, from memory my puck actually gets atf from two ports to the side of it that route behind the puck, I don't think I have the threaded holes so I won't need the 90 degree fittings because I already have ports, draining the trans this weekend so I'll take a peek at it again. I've got the A750F so the cooler setup is a little different and if I remember right more simplified so there isn't as much to remove. But I will have to remove the engine coolant lines and block those off. Do you think its worth running the trans cooler all the way to the grill vs just doing a frame rail cooler? Obviously the grill spot would be more effective

I did a quick toyodiy parts search and the elbow shows as a part used for air oil cooler 750 just not on tundra. The puck has a passage for oil supply and return where the coolant circulates around it.
But...definitely double check parts and diagrams.

For sure, I did a lot of the research a couple months ago and haven't gotten back to it, so I'll have to relearn what I already figured out

    trans.png

From what I remember the two lines in red are atf to the puck, while blue is engine coolant, but now that has me scratching my head about the two unmarked lines. It'll be easy to figure out once I drain the pan. I might actually reuse the metal coolant lines to carry atf to the front of the radiator

Definitely verify as here is a different a750 diagram with just the atf to air cooler setup. Threaded elbows used.

Mine came with a factory cooler. I added an aux cooler after the radiator. We see temps as low as the teens during the winter so I kept the thermostatic valve. Also towing during the summer in 90s ambient.

correct, some did come with coolers from factory, mine just has the puck...but according to your picture it looks like I'll still need the elbows, I'll have to confirm when I pull it. too bad toyota couldn't make this easy on all of us lol

Scored a set of RW wheels with pretty decent rubber on them. I may just clean them up and run them as is for a while.

Had a strenuous day in the garage today...

Installed the TRD radiator cap that's been on the counter for a month. Currently 95 deg with a heat index near 105.

Oh, and ran the last couple gallons of plus out of the tank, that my wife accidentally filled up with last time.
