I have a 2022 TRD Pro and the toe on the front tires was off from the factory. It caused the outer edge of the tires to wear. I reported this at my first service (5,000 miles). Dealer was unable to fix it because the settings were within factory specs. I had to take my truck to an outside shop and all 4 tires needed replaced at 22,000 miles. About a month later, I received notice from Toyota acknowledging the problem and that I can take my truck to the dealer for repair and tire replacement if needed. I contacted Toyota and submitted all of the paperwork showing I paid to fix the tires on my own. They declined my claim and refuse to make things right. I'm a huge Toyota fan but this is extremely disappointing. They acknowledged the toe was off and they refused to help me! I'm out $1700!!

You should have just waited and continued to drive on dangerously worn tires, obviously.

    Lesson learned.

I had a similar issue with a Toyota claim being denied. There is a recall for a headlight fire hazard. Toyota has been killing it with fire hazard recalls. Anyways, I did the OEM LED upgrade and filed a reimbursement claim for the headlights. Got denied 3 times, while others got paid. I pointed that out to them and they gave me some lame ass excuses of a case by case basis. The worse part is that the fix is a birds nest of wiring and splicing. Not up to Toyotas standards. Even worse than that is that this all happened because Toyota decide to save a penny and down size the wire size to the headlights.

Sorry to hear that. I had something similar happen to me with my 2017 Tacoma and the 3rd brake light leaking. It was a known problem and I had paid out of pocket for the fix prior to Toyota issuing a recall or TSB (cant remember which one). So once they did I got the receipt from the work from Toyota when it was replaced and submitted it to them. They send me a check like 6 months later. Wasn’t expecting it but still got the cost back which was nice.
Maybe keep pushing them and maybe they will pay out for the alignment. To be honest though the tires that come on these trucks are garbage and usually toast by 25-30k

At least you got paid. I got a pretty harsh letter basically telling me to stop submitting the claim.
As for the tires, you are 100% correct. There was a previous thread talking about the Flake s and I mentioned that a guy at work has them in a brand new pro. The tire thread is half of what you normally see on an AT tire. Apparently there are 2 different Flaken ATs. One has more thread than the other. Toyota has been cutting corners lately it seems. Pretty shitty of a multi-billion dollar company to do that but the greedy will always be greedy.

If the fronts were worn due to the alignment at factory , what caused the rears to have to be replaced, and why did it take you 22,000 miles to resolve it?

ummm, because the dipshit dealer probably kept rotating the tires and not every owner is an expert in these matters. Some have to rely on the dealer and manufacturer to make things right.

Go to the dealership on Saturday afternoon and get loud in the showroom. They don't want shoppers hearing about your loss, so lay it on thick.

All 4 tires went bad due to them being rotated. The entire outside edge was completely bald. After Toyota denied my claim, I filed a complaint with the BBB and also the Maryland Attorney General Consumer Protection Division. Toyota acknowledged my complaints but again said they would not reimburse me.

There's hardly any tread left in the middle either...I wouldn't warranty those....Toyota is correct here. You waited too long.

For what it is worth Wild Peak tires are not any good. What does other side of tire look like? If it looks like that on other side. Tires were run under inflated.

I reported the issue at my first 5,000 mile service. They checked and everything was within factory specifications. The problem continued and addressed at every service. I even drove an hour to another Toyota dealer. Both dealer refused to do anything and at 22,000 I went to an outside shop. Then Toyota issued a recall saying the tire wear was due to improper factory settings on the toe. Tires were not under inflated.

**If you read my original post you would have realized I reported well before the 22,000 mile mark. I reported it at my first service (5,000 miles).

It doesn't seem that Toyota cares when you reported it. Tires are a consumable item and they don't seem interested in helping you at this point. Have an attorney send a demand letter with your documentation and see what happens if you are so-inclined.

And I meant you waited too long to PRESS THE ISSUE. Now, they'll just keep claiming the tires are beyond their useful life and tell you to get lost most likely.

The wild peaks that come on the pro and certain trd off road packages are shit. They are very different from the wildpeaks you would buy at discount tire or any other tire shop. My two Tacomas I had prior to my tundra both the Goodyear wrangler tires were toast by 30k on my 2017 and 25k on my 2021. Just the way it is now and I’m sure manufacturers contract with tire manufacturers to make a cheaper product to slap onto new cars. Thus saving Toyota money in the long run and costing the consumer more.
Not saying Toyota is right by denying this guy money. I could see maybe for the alignment but tire wise that seems average life at this point for factory tires on a new car especially the wild peaks that come on the pro from factory.

This is 100% true and well known. All makes do it with all their tire suppliers, quality is lower, tread depth is less, etc, etc. My OEM Bridgestone tires on my new at the time 2014 had chunks of tread ripped off by 22k, and I don't even off road, my truck is a 2wd and sometimes a tow pig. I just sucked it up, went to Discount and got some Michelins.

Yea I’ve had my tundra for about 4 months and I have an appointment at discount for some new wheels and tires. Not a fan of 20s on trucks and the tires are meh so going down to 17s and throwing some Toyo open country AT3s. Had them on my last Tacoma and loved the performance so sticking to what I know! This surely will last way longer

I just went through a similar experience with Toyota and I am pretty disappointed. I have a 2023 Trd pro as soon as I got the truck I replaced the crap tires it came with and put one size larger Nitto ridge grapplers had my tires rotated a couple of times because they were wearing bad on sides had about 15,000 miles on the truck when I got the recall notice. I took back to the dealer and the alignment was set to factory settings but they were incorrect just like the recall said. I didn’t expect Toyota to pay the 1800.00 I paid for the nittos but since the know their mistake caused the problem I expected them to pay something. After sending them the dealer report and proof of purchase they decided not to pay anything because I changed the tires. I don’t know how that makes any sense if I wouldn’t have replaced the tires they would have put new ones on so I thought they could at least give me what the shit tires they put on from the factory would cost.

I actually found a pic of the OEM tires dated 11/2016, just a couple of years old with perfect alignment and plenty of tread depth left. Just shows how shitty the stock tires are.

I would go and file a small claim against them for the expenses you paid out, unfortunately you have to sue to get comapnies to pay including insurance comapnies in most cases.
