that is how I moved from being a press brake operator to a designer, I built the box all on my on using solidworks, bystronic laser & press brake. the box on post 1 was a joke given the price and size. mine is 19 deep with far better locks.
right now I am trying to see how modular I can make it so you can attach whatever you want . all boxes I see out there currently are plain jane with no attachment points anywhere. just simple storage and over priced for that.

different entirely. Where a doublecab has room for a storage box, the crewmax has several inches of foam under the carpet. There's aftermarket storage boxes out there for crewmaxes, but overpriced and unoptimized.

Ah, I assumed you were making this for the crewmax because Toyota boned us on underseat storage from the factory. Completely different, but there is def a market on this forum for a legit crewmax box. I’d be on that list.

I am seeing boxes for $800 or so and yes the pics coming up for the crewmax look bad storage wise.

I also thought what you were designing was specifically for the Crewmax. Does the double cab not already have the under seat storage?

I'm on my way back from a Texas road trip n should be back home tomorrow evening and should be free the rest of the week.
If you're still interested in taking a look at the crew cab, we can work something out.

Like @Sciosh98 said, you'd have a pretty good outcome from lots of members here.

Under my seats are carpet. I would love a storage box. Which is why i follow this post. He has built the best box for thew DC so far.

Yeah, sadly Toyota cheated us Crew Max gang out of much needed storage inside the cab. I'm currently on this road trip traveling halfway across the country n wished I could've brought a slightly larger tool bag should anything happen. But is also like to always have emergency roadside tools available. Seems like maybe OP would be able to utilize much more space with his own design versus ESP :monocle: it'd be nice to see something

I'm definitely interested. Let me know if you need a truck. Looks like @V3N0M & I are neighbors and not too far from you. What do you think the price will be for the box? Was actually looking at the ESP this weekend.

prices should be lower than ESP with better options. I am adding brackets so you can strap items down on the DC version as well as possibly adding a gas shock to prop lid open. the crewmax is a different animal for what I can tell so far. but I will need a one to mess around with

I think your design is very good and it appears that your work is also very good. Nice job!

However, I would be very surprised if in the end you can produce these at a lower price point than the ESP. I do think yours has the potential to be a much better product, but there is a lot of work/materials involved in building just one box.

    Best of luck.

I agree. Supply and demand is a huge factor with him being just one guy but imo sometimes better products come from someone like OP.

OP, if your still interested in taking a look at a crew cab and no one else local followed thru with their offer, I'm back from my road trip.

Check the build link in my signature.
Important to note - the ESP full-length box includes replacement seat mounting brackets in order to actually utilize the space. The Crewmax seat mounts are tubular steel out to the front under the carpet/foam.

Not saying I like the price tag, but there’s more to the ESP design than just a box with a split lid.
