Can't Remove Favorite from Station List

Well I just discovered yet another stupid design issue with the infotainment system. Favorite channels management, or lack there of.

I have SiriusXM and several channels on my favorites list. From time to time XM adds, removes or relocates channels on their list. Over the weekend it seems they moved a station I had as a favorite from in the 300's down into the teens. You would think this would be an easy thing to update....nope.

Adding the new channel is no big deal. Just tune it in and hit the little heart. Easy peasy. Now I just need to do the opposite and un-heart the old channel. But wait, there is no channel to tune to so I cannot get it on the screen to un-heart it. WTF! There is no other way to manage the favorites! So now I have this dead station stuck on my list occupying one of the only 20 slots, which is also a stupid design feature. Why only 20? My '17 Sienna has 40 or more.

The old infotainment systems were bad enough where you couldn't delete a favorite station once added, only overwrite with a new one. But this is so much worse. What stupid software design. Just pile it on top of all the other stupid aspects of this system I guess.

    Sorry. Rant over.

If anyone has any suggestions or knows something I don't please advise. At this point I believe my only option is to reset to factory defaults and start over.

I ran into this as well and was able to delete them all and add them back one at a time. Mind you, I only have 6 favorites. But since there is no way to sort them or move a favorite to another location in the list, this was the easiest way I found. Having a blank station messed up the scan function using the steering wheel buttons as well. I could move to the next favorite until it came across the blank and then just wouldn't go further.

Another nit of mine is that I like to have the large screen showing the album art and then the Favorites list shows what is playing on the other favorites. Well, every time I restart the truck, this resets to a list and I have to reselect the album art view. In other recent vehicles I owned, I was able to set the default view. I have not been able to find any reference to this feature in Infotainment manuals or online search. Another little annoying thing...

How did you delete them all? Is there a clear all function somewhere?

I believe I removed the heart one by one. I could not find a "clear all" function. It's been a while since I did this...

Well the problem is that I can't remove the heart. The one channel on my list that is no longer active on XM does nothing when I select it. So I can't get to the screen to remove the heart.

You point about the list is also another frustration of mine. I cannot choose where on the list stations go. I cannot move them, edit them, nothing. Seems no rhyme or reason how it adds them. Also moving through the list with the steering wheel controls is counterintuitive. Don't get me started on the super stupid audio controls screen. The EQ and fade/balance screen is just plain dumb and the controls are awful and inconsistent.

If I recall, I was able to remove all of the other channels and then re-add them. When I did this, the inactive one went away. This happened on the way to work and bugged me so much that I sat in the parking lot at work messing with it, until I made the issue go away. I use the steering wheel controls a lot. And I think I had to rebuild the list backwards to save them in my preferred order (been a while and I agree it wasn't logical at all).

Go to audio. Then Sirius. Touch the channel playing on the lower right panel. That will move favorites to the left panel. Touch an individual channel and remove the heart on the upper right of the right panel.

Yup. Tried that. When I pick the discontinued channel on the list nothing happens. So I don't get the screen on the right panel where I can remove the heart.

@ChucklesToy I will give that a try. Thanks!

Hmm. works for me. I was just cleaning some stuff up this morning. Maybe it's the rev. level of the system. Mine did the OTA a couple of weeks ago and is current. Good luck.

Tracking. And yes, favorites capped at 20 is pathetic.

Have you checked to see if you need to update your audio system?

I do remember getting at least one, if not two updates in the past year.

I'm not sure what the updates fixed/addressed, but that might help.

Yeah usually it comes off with the next update ftom xm, if you are talking about yacht rock radio then yes it will come off on the next update. Yacht rock was only a summer radio thing then it got so popular that they kept it and move it to the teens for summer.

While out and about today I remembered how I removed another channel and rearranged my favorites. As said, I selected one of the other channels on the right to where the album art showed. This showed the list of favorites on the left. While stopped, the list showed “edit” on the top of the favorites list and three lines on the left. I was able to press and hold the three lines 5o rearrange them so that the unknown was at the bottom of the list and then selected “edit” to remove it.

These 2 screen shots illustrate the favorites editing tool.

Thanks for the screen shots. I didn't notice the edit feature. I was just clicking the heart on the upper right. It will be a plus to reorder some things.

Thanks all. I discovered the Edit at the top of the list last night after work in the parking lot. Initially when we were trying to remove the station my Son was trying from the passenger seat while we were driving. That Edit feature disappears once the truck is moving. Hence us not being able to un-heart the abandoned channel. Appreciate all the feeback and help.

Kudos to Crewmax55 and Chuckles to highlight above the edit feature.

The same thing happened to me the past couple of days as suddenly some of my "Favorite" Sirius/XM stations (extra channels) are no longer available (not sure why because they are common channels like "60s, 70s, and 80s" and "Deep Tracks). It took me a while to figure out how to get to the "Favorites" editing interface, with the "Favorites" listed on the left side of the screen. A better interface would be to just have an option to press and hold a "Favorite" and remove it that way.

Great news about editing while stopped.
Mine also sometimes removes/adds channels at random when I get in the truck I have a favourites list I didn't pick. Not a fan of that.
