I’ll have to find my post but I had to switch a couple PINs around. Morimoto included some kind of short harness and I just turned that short harness into a conversion harness as I rearranged the PINs on the small harness in a way where I didn’t have to de-pin anything from the truck harness if that makes sense.

I'm struggling with this way more than I should be but then I tend to get wrapped up in the analysis to the point of paralysis. I see overwhelming recommendations for the OEM LEDs but I'm a huge fan of projectors like on my wife's 4Runner and for that technology it seems the answer is $$ morimotos or AlphaRex which has a lot of negative comments here

Me too. I was going to order a set off eBay, but I’m going to wait a few days to see if any dealers have a Memorial Day sale…

Like with any aftermarket product there's going to be defective parts that get through QC, they don't have the money that Toyota has for it. Both are still good, well known brands that'll take care of you if you get a bad part.

Fwiw my alphas are almost 2 years old with offroad abuse, still work like new and no moisture inside

dumb question time from me: Are all the OEM LED headlights the same (aside from the trim color) or should we be looking specifically for the TRD Pro OEM LED's?

I too just did the 2018+ TRD Pro Black background with the IHacker harness.. Went with the DRL's dimming with lights on choice... I also put a switch in for the DRL's so they can be turned off if needed... Some times we need to leave truck running with AC on for the dog when we go into a restaurant (or gas station/store) when traveling... So I turn the DRL's off so it's not obvious the truck is sitting there running...

OEM LED's arrived yesterday from a used parts place online. They look good and were very well packaged. iHacker harness came in the day before so I'm ready to upgrade my headlights! I've got to force myself to take my time and get pre- and post- photos and aiming points rather than just wade into it to get it done.

Wiring the DRL's under the dash (with on/off switch) didn't go as planned for me... I never could de pin the wire out of the plug so it would just plug into the new wire... I ended up breaking the wire from the pin because I was using needle nose pliers to try and pull the wire/pin out of the plug... Ended up just using a crimp/butt connector (wasn't happy)...

Just giving ya heads up not to use needle nose pliers on such a small wire...

I decided to keep it simple and got the non-dimming DRL harness from iHacker, so straight plug-n-play

Me too… he’s shipped mine so I’ll be installing mine in the next week or so. Might as well wait until my color matched grill,, hood bulge, and number caps come ina and do it all in one day!
