Traded in my Camaro for a 2022 SR5

    Here she is!

Warning long post. Only one of my friends really gives a shit about my new truck and he's kinda sick of hearing about it already. Yall are getting shotgunned with mind thoughts.

I have been a Toyota fan since my first Tundra 10 years ago. 2011 SR5 2WD.
    350k miles I put 250k onto it.

I since traded that in for a 2018 4Runner TRDOR. Which I loved that too but I made a couple ill advised mods and it killed it for me so I traded that in for a 2019 Camaro SS 1LE. Now I did love my Camaro but I'm 6'3" and I'm a large guy. The car is fun as hell but it was starting to become a chore to actually drive it.

Occasionally I'll check Toyota of Plano's listings because I've been passively eyeing Tacoma's.
They sold us a RAV4 recently and they were awesome! No markups no bullshit. Would recommend.

And I stumbled across a 2022 34k miles, 4x4 SR5 for 38k... I couldn't let that pass up so I went and looked at it and it was mint. It's basic, no fancy seats or any special features but it has everything else I could've wanted. I think the only actual "upgrade" it has is the TRD wheels. So it has a nice murdered out look that's just *chefs kiss*.

By the end of negotiations I had the truck down to 36k out of the door. With doing cost compares I think I got a pretty good deal.

I will indeed miss my Camaro. That thing was some of the most fun I've had in a car ever. But something bout the size and height of a truck just hits better. I still have my old Corvette to finish rebuilding so it's not the end of the world.

I did a bunch of research into that crank bearing exploding and did opt for the platinum warranty coverage, just in case. It was an easy addition for peace of mind.

My only complaints so far is I can't see SHIT next to me so I added a couple blind spot mirrors and it whistles at highway speeds but it appears that's just the windows being screwy so I've got some rain guards coming that should cut that out. If not I'll do the foam tape mod I saw on Reddit.

I've also completely disassembled the entire center console and gave it a good cleaning. ToP's detailers are pretty good but they've got too much shit to do to take apart all trim pieces and check for previously spilled soda. I noticed the drive selector was a little sticky. And I spilled Pepsi in my 4Runner's console once so I knew the drill. I not only disassembled the console I took apart each module down to the circuit board and gave everything a good deep cleaning.

Anyway. I'm pretty stoked. I'm already planning some mods.

    My biggest todo's are to:

    1. Find electric seats to replace mine. Not in a hurry on this one as basic manual seats don't bother me I just wish it had more than 2 adjustments. My 2011 Tundra had manual seats but I could change the height and adjust lumbar.

    2. A suspension lift and bigger tires.

    3. Find not-road and drive on it.

    4. Maybe Jetskis so I have something to pull...

I had a 2006 Pontiac GTO 6 speed and it’s still my favorite car ive ever had. I’ve looked for a second one but most seem to be fairly well driven at this point.

I bet the Camaro was a blast but I heard the cabins and visibility suck.

    Welcome from Central TX!

ditto on the Camaro and GTO comments. Wife had a red 2001 Trans Am and I had a 2004 GTO, Impulse Blue/Blue Leather interior 6 speed that was rare. Both were a blast to drive. Wife had to make room for grand-baby car seats and now has a Honda Accord V6 and I moved on as I got older.

You guys bring back too many great memories. :monocle:

If you adjust your mirrors right it's no where near as bad as people make it out to be.

I called my dad before doing the trade in to see if he regrets any cars he's sold. He immediately said his 69 GMC truck.

But even he agreed I wouldn't miss the Camaro once the convenience of the truck sets in.

A DIY rear bumper. And the guy who welded it overestimated his abilities. It was painted bad, welded bad and started rusting basically immediately. Frame was cross threaded like crazy to get it on. Would've been like 4-5 grand to swap it back out to something factory made.

    Mistake learned from tho.
