Had mine recalibrated today, took like 90 minutes, I've got 3300 miles on mine. It appears to be an issue where the calibration is improperly set at the factory. The tech noted that all the calibrations were off by "1".

Yea I have a new tundra just a week old. Took it on a road trip and it got lots of bugs on it so when I got home I took it through the car wash two times . After drying it off and backed out of spot notice the guidelines are GONE. Took it to Toyota they said water is shorting out something in either the camera on tailgate or backup lights. Sounds like a design problem to me as too many are happinng . They ordered a new CPU chip will be months before it
Gets in . Not sure why they didn’t do the sensor adjustments like others
    Here have stated.

This same thing happened to me .. except I live is so cal and it didn’t rain. I did just do the TRD pro grille swap on my 1794 so we will see if that was issue. It’s disappointing as I have 500 miles on my truck ..

Went to a car wash today (brushless) and noticed later that my back up camera displays differently now. It looks like it became even more wide angle and the image on the screen is a little smaller.
I have an SR5, so I only have that one camera.
I’ve been going to this car wash for years because of how careful they are. This is my 3rd time washing this truck there.
Are we all getting water intrusion in our cameras?

Well that was embarrassing… took my truck to the dealership today and told them what was up. The service advisor puts it in reverse and taps the icon on the bottom left. BOOM- back to normal.
I didn’t know we had wide angle, I didn’t even know that was a button. Must have missed that in the manual.

Hopefully this will be helpful to someone. I have a 3 month old 2024 Tundra TRD Pro and I noticed the backup grid lines were missing but the slow speed front grid lines were still there. I had just taken it through a car wash and figured I was having some kind of short. Well…. It turns out the tailgate wasn’t entirely closed. I wasn’t seeing a warning that it was open but when I pushed on it I heard it click. And sure enough the rear grid lines came back. ‍♂️

@belRNGr Did you know that you can change the grid lines? I just learned this. Tap the icon on the bottom right of the screen when in reverse.

Same exact issue happened with my brand new Limited…So after 3000 miles and my first tow, I had an issue with the TBA function. I calibrated the system as per the manual and everything seem to work fine. I unhooked and dropped the trailer and as I pulled away I got a “trailer backup assist malfunction” warning on my dash. I have also lost all of the grid lines for my backup camera and I cannot change the backup camera views. I couldnt find too much info online, so i took it to the dealer. Well it took 4 techs to work on the issue and they still don’t know what’s wrong. They claim Toyota is aware of the problem that’s happening to all of us. I think the ecu thinks the truck is in tow mode, hence why we lost grid lines. I believe the grid lines were unavailable when I was towing the camper. I sure hope that they figure this out..
I’m towing again this weekend and I’ll see what happens. The dealer will be getting a follow up call when I get back..

Same issue on a 2024 Sequoia Platinum (3000 miles) with no backup lines and greyed out screen options.

If you have a solution can you please mention which dealer solved the problem so we can learn exactly what they did to fix it. Local dealer has no idea.

EDIT: going in Monday to have all cameras deleted and re-added and calibrated. This was the solution from Oxmoor Toyota and hopefully what my local dealer will do.

Just had this happen to my 24 Platinum 1500 miles. No rain, hand washed with soft mit only, no apparent film on sensors or cameras.

    Don’t ask.

Went in bright and early for my 7:30 appointment last Monday. About 10:30 they come and tell me they want the shop foreman to do the “computer work” but he is off this week on vacation. Geez, only 1 technician can do an update and follow my typed info from the other dealer???

    Rescheduled for next Tuesday. Uggh!

When you are driving, is the bed camera working or is it a grey screen?

Just had this happen to my 24 Tundra TRD Pro with less than 5,000 miles on it. The service advisor at the dealership said the issue was being monitored (not sure what that means) but had seen it happen at least one other time with a truck right off the showroom floor. He mentioned something about a mis-calibration from the factory and that any trim level with the same camera system as the TRD Pro could potentially have the same issue, including the Sequoia. He also said there was no evidence that it was related to car washes or weather. I use a spray wand at an old school car wash, never an automatic, and I had washed my truck two days before experiencing the issue. In the end, they fixed the problem in a couple of hours. The notes from the dealer stated: “Performed Panoramic Camera Calibration OP code Side Television Camera Assembly.”

What dealer did you go to? I would like to have my service manager call them as my brother and I have 2 2024 Tundra TRD Pro's that have the same issue.

Got mine fixed on a Sequoia this morning in about 1.5 hours. Shop foreman worked on it and had to do a few things regarding deleting the cameras and re-adding / re-calibrating them.

Lot's of things to set we didn't even know existed.

Receipt from Toyota Service. Had it overnight and were able to resolve the issue. Anyone had the issue reoccur after having them "recalibrated"

Had this same issue this morning after a heavy rainfall the night before, 24 Tundra with 253 miles. A few hours after being at work I decided to take it to the Dealership and drop it off and no more Malfunction warning, but I still asked them to check the camera system. Hopefully they do![IMG]

Hello, I am dealing with this same issue right now. My truck has been in the shop for 2+ days. Toyota is sending them a specialized piece of equipment next week to recalibrate the cameras and I am told it will take two techs and an empty garage bay and about 4 hours. Also, Toyota acknowledges this is a known issue. I'll keep everyone posted and upload the report when fixed. The good news is Toyota is renting me a car to use.

    ***UPDATE***

The recalibration worked. I was told it took two techs 6 hours (total of 12 hours of labor). Definitely an expensive fix and thankfully it was under warranty. I was showed the instructions that they had to follow and it was over 50 pages! Yikes. Anyway, I hope that this thread helps the next person - I was told that 2 more came in for the exact same issue.

The recalibration worked for me, but had another issue, maybe unrelated, but figured I’d share in case someone else is having the problem too. I had my 24 trd pro in on 3 different occasions troubleshooting the issues over 3 months. It seemed software related as my trailer garage couldn’t add/remove trailers, local tech cleared it out, could add again. Thought all was good. Nope. Backup assist button went dead, wouldn’t engage no matter what. Local tech checked for power in the unit, it had it. Multiple parts replaced (ecu, etc), no dice. Regional Toyota tech came out to inspect, virtual call setup and voila, prob fixed in under 2 hours. They supposedly applied a temporary fix (software update I believe) until permanent update is released. No eta.

Trailer garage is fine. Mine has the same issue with the TBG - can calibrate one time and works while still active. But as soon as I deactivate it no longer works and I have to shut the truck off, recalibrate then it works until I deactivate again. I don't have the camera issues though. All my grid lines are there and where they are supposed to be. Dealer is replacing ECU next Tuesday - will be going to hook up the trailer right after and see if that fixes.

Problem fixed - here is what dealer had to do.TBG issue fix.jpg. I verified last night by attaching and towing my camper that the TBG and straight path assist now work fine.

I have a 2024 Tundra and I'm having the same issue. No error messages though. Guidlines won't come up while backing up. When you slow down the front camera doesn't come on anymore. No other options to choose different camera views. I took it to deal and they told me they need to change out the ECU

Had camera calibration completed today. Cameras and touchscreen interface working as it should. Have not tried straight back assist set-up yet. Will follow up after I get a chance to test it
