Any advice on removing the driver front axle seal from the diff and replacing it with a new one?

Looks like I can jam a flat heat in the hole and pry it out. Then I guess press the new one on with PCV pipe and a mallet.

That sound about right?

 

I'd prefer working it out with a hook over yanking it out. Take measurements after the hand press & get the initial 'bind' as close to square as possible. Seals arent bearings, but it'll give you some feel. Since its an aluminum housing & a steel seal i wouldnt be skeered to hit it with a c-hair of grease. If you see any gouging in the housing, just cake more grease in there. Lol.

prolly be down tomorrow evening. Get everything painted & we'll slap it all back together.

I think it’s cast iron, the diff housing has some weight to it for sure
