Got the BILs Dodge Journey going. Ultimately a coil pack. Trusted some poor diagnosis on his part initially and replaced an injector. That didn’t work so I did my own poking around and the misfire followed the coil. 20 mins later we were running smooth with no codes.

We fixed it for less than $200. Oil change, injector, plugs and one coil pack.

I got a Audi Q5 as a work rental today. First time driving one. The German's have a lot of odd design choices. Reverse is up, not back. Park is a button. The windshield wiper lever moves up, not down. I'm sure I'll find more weirdness tomorrow. It sure does drive nice though.

You don't want the part cost or service bills though. Whew. VAG really knows how to stick it to their customers. Only BMW is worse.

No Mercedes is the worst, then BMW, then Porsche, then Audi, then VW. But at the end of the day no dealership is cheap, affordable or practical financially speaking. This is why I'd wrench in my own cars lol.

Shit you mind as well own a fucking super car for the prices and labor they charge on a Merc. Fuck that shit. And they always break like 300 to 3000 just out of warranty. I swear they plan it in them to do that, so does BMW. Audi break down beacse the owners are too pig head to understand that cars need things like oil and fluids and ya know break pads, well Audi and VW owners. And as long as you don't have one of the high strung Porsches they generally will run for ever with basic maintenance. Odd really

Oh they, VW, also owns a large German sausage company. They don't offer it here anymore but you used to be able to order sausage at the dealerships here in America with your new VW

I can attest when my dad sold his 88 Accord and bought one of these, it was fun AF to drive, but always in the shop at the dealership. Damn Daimler Chrysler era.

God I miss that car. To be 16 again and for my dad to trust me with his brand new Benz, his status symbol that he finally made it in life. The man who taught me everything I know about driving since I was like 14. Man... That was big. What a hot hatch. 189 supercharged and intercooled horses of pure fury.

My 535i was also overwhelmingly fun to drive, and it fit my body like a glove, I felt like the seats were hugging me while driving.

That said, the time I spent in the stealership getting work done under warranty was enough that, when time came to pay them a grand or two to extend the warranty, seeing what had already added up to about $12k in warranty parts and labor, I noped the f out and traded it for a loaded Camry hybrid to put around in for a couple years, save on gas, and figure out what the next project would be.

That's what the Land Rover I bought for the GFs family is like. Push the stalk up for wipers, lock/unlock buttons on the dashboard, controls for the cluster screen on the stalk. Just really odd choices for the controls.

A buddy of mine's mom has an SQ5- the fast one. We would take it on the twisty roads near Lake Geneva, Wi and absolutely fly. Insane cornering capability for an SUV. We'd race tons of people in it- that thing would put car lengths on 5.0 mustangs and corvettes from a dig. I don't think I've ever beaten on a car as much as that SQ5. It was an insanely good time, but I'd always brake-torque it so hard that I was worried I'd break it and end up with a huge repair bill. Still a great time.
