The first time I posted...in the Introduction thread...I announced that I MIGHT be getting a new 2024 Tundra Platinum. The deal was great...but I couldn't pull the plug. I was TRYING not to be impulsive. I loved my RAM Rebel...ran great...looked great...so why not keep it? Two weeks ago...I bought an extended warranty for it for another 5 years or 100,000 miles. Well...1 week later, the sales manager from the dealership who I bring a TON of business to...left me a text message! It simply stated..."Tundra??? It's here!"

I went down to look at it...as I surely owed them that. BUT...I wanted to see what I was passing up on. Oh my Lord!! That truck was so dang sexy. 4x4, Heads up display, power running board and tail step. The Toyota contact and I took it for a 6 mile test drive.....and I said..."YES!"

There isn't a whole lot that I wanted to put on this truck except for....black lettering on the tailgate to tie in all the black accents on the tailgate. They threw that in. They also tinted the front windows at no cost. The SE Toyota Distributors added Toyoguard to the window sticker...but it's a lease and part of the original MSRP...so it technically cost me $6 to get two extra oil changes and rotations as well as road side assistance. When I got home...my better 1/2 and I were looking at the grill...and decided that the chrome Toyota Logo in the grill was too bright and blingy...so I ordered a matte black emblem for the front. Made a HUGE difference. I want to get some Faulkin Wild Peaks AT3's...but at this time...don't know if its acceptable within the lease terms. If it is...I'll probably do it. I'll sell the original Goodrich tires and get 3-500 dollars for them.

I've driven it for a massive 80 miles....and so far...I love it. Yesterday...I had 4 guys stop me at Autozone, Home Depot and the gas station to ask me about my truck. It is definitely an eye catcher. My RAM is starting to become an EX-girlfriend and I'm slowly forgetting about it.

There are a few questions I have about it.

    1. When you select "fresh air" on the AC control...it doesnt seem to stay. Not sure if it's on fresh or re-circulate.
    2. Have you noticed a hesitation when you are accelerating at slower speeds?
    3. HOW DO YOU TURN OFF THE FRIGGING SEAT BELT CHIME! GEEZ!!
    4. I live in Florida...where it is frigging hot! Have you noticed that the volume of air out of the vents is kind of abysmal?

There are some quirky things about the Tundra that I'm not totally thrilled with....but the ride and the styling is off the chains. So far...I'm happy with the truck. Just need to buy the cargo divider from Real trucks. That'll make me happy!

    Welcome to the forum

get a Carista and that will shut off the seat belt bs, fake engine noise (if you want) and also tweak the ac setting here, change it to temp dial -2

#4 is “by design”. It’s a load of crap. The blower doors will open all the way up if you crank them temp all the way down to “LO”. Believe me, I’m in FL also and I want full blast in the heat of the summer but don’t want to be iced out. Start at LO and slowly turn the temp up and you’ll hear the doors start to close.

Nice ride, yes a/c is low volume of cold air and makes loud whistle noises.

The trucks have turbo lag, some are worst then others if you keep reading via multiple owners, you will find them state that their rental or other gen3 that they have driven don't have turbo lag/slow acceleration/dead pedal vs their own gen3. It's hit/miss, my gen3 has 0 turbo lag/pedal acceleration, and I came from a ecodiesel that had turbo lag.

Seat belt chime can be taken off by carista

Get a Carista like Borla suggested. Makes a huge difference on AC temp. Run AC in auto and there is no shortage of volume from vents. Run it in manual and they are tick weak but will drop the truck temp.

    You will love it!!

1 - Toyota just does this and I hate it. I almost refused to get another because on my old 4Runner it would make the interior feel like a hot Florida summer. It isn't as bad in the Tundra, but still, I agree it is a problem.
    2. Yes, there is a thread on this. Does it get better when warmed up? For me, it is only bad the first time I try and go. That also happens to be leaving home trying to get into traffic with the most pucker factor.
    3. Other mentioned options. The alarms in general are horrible. Try backing a trailer. Yes, I know it is there.
    4. There is a setting to not use "Auto" in the settings through the infotainment system and turning that off is supposed to help. I've had mine since December and haven't had a warm enough day to notice yet, but I think they are coming.

Nice truck congratulations! I had the same truck in black in 22, I know have the 1794 Limited Edition. I have never leased but have herd that it has to have good tires when you turn them in? If so I’d keep my stock tries for when I turned it in. Just a thought, if my info is correct. Enjoy your ride!

I don't keep my trucks very long. I'd LOVE to be that guy that keep their vehicle for over 10 years...but I can't seem to ever get remotely close. The lease residuals and money factors were much better this month than they were in previous months...so I decided to do it. In 3 years...I'll either lease a new one...or buy it out if it makes sense to do so. My buying cycle seems to be at 2 1/2 years...so leasing proved to be the smarter way at this time. Keeping the original tires was a thought of mine as well....but my garage is organized chaos...and I can't figure out where to store 4 tires. Man problems!! :annoyed:

#1 - Yeah, one of several pet peeves of mine that could be fixed with a sw update, but they won’t. If you hit recirculate, it’s sticky and will be lit up when you jump in next time. But fresh air? Who knows. One would think there are only two options…recirculate or fresh air. So if that’s the case, it defaults to fresh maybe? I can’t tell a difference if I manually select it. It also would make no sense for there to be anything other than all fresh or all recirculate. If you hit the recirculate button, the light comes on and the only way to turn it off is hit the fresh air button, then it’s light is on. You can never get it back to a mode where one of the lights isn’t lit unless you turn off the truck. Just stupid design by committee. Kinda like how all the buttons have a light in them except the AC button.

Do you have a pic of your front end with the black emblem? Lot’s of pics on this forum of people who have blacked out everything, but I don’t think I’ve seen one with just the emblem blacked out.

I hear you on organized chaos! I just got mine back in shape, it took about a year lol. I used to drive them 4 or 5 years but since the 3rd gin came out it’s been once a year. Crazy I know! But I finally found my sweet spot in the 1794 LE. I just wish I trusted this truck like I did the 1st & 2nd gin to keep it forever.

The tailgate has the black upper area that is gloss black. The "TUNDRA" indentation is there..but I needed something to tie it all in, so I added the matte black letters. The grill..which is smoked gray...had the chrome Toyota Emblem, which made the grill a bit too blingy. The gloss black "Tundra indentation is also there..so the grill REALLY stands out. The matte black Toyota emblem subdued that blingy look with a more stealth look. The Platinum comes with a lot of black or dark gray on it to begin with....so there's not much blacking out to do.

I completely understand. The older generations were pretty much bullet proof. We'll hope and pray that this one will serve me well. However...the super low GAS MILEAGE on those huge engines was eye opening. So far...this one I picked up only shows 11.7 mpg, but it hasn't had time to completely average out. At least..the Tundra uses regular gas. I had to use 89 octane on my Ram to keep it running the way it was designed. The 1794 was the one I was leaning towards...but I wanted to go with that darker look. I LOVE the interior on the 1794. Always wanted a saddle color interior.

I really like that matte grill emblem. Where did you get it? The ones I’ve seen are pure black…yours looks way better.
I have the 1794, which is basically a Platinum with more chrome (I could do without it) and brown leather seats (the reason I went that way). So the center fog light part of the grill on mine is chrome, which I hate. But I’m retired and can’t justify spending $250 for a painted one.

11.7 was about what my 22 platinum started at, I was shocked in 22. So I thought the hybrid was the way to go so I bought a 23 pro, I love How the pro suspension rides and drives. Then about 2 months after I got the pro they released the 1794 LE. I knew I wouldn’t be able to resist it, and here I am lol. I do love my 1794

I ordered it from the Toyota dealership. They didn't show a matte black emblem for the Platinum..so I had to order an emblem for the Limited. I received the logo emblem as well as 2 "Limited overlays" to go on the C pillar. Just kept the logo...and threw away the other pieces. The kit costs $75
