One thing, not a big thing, that has always looked wonky to me is the way the hood margin/gap flows down into the top of the headlight like 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch from the seam of the headlight and signal-marker lenses. Like something is "off", or not aligned.IMG_20200610_110826.jpg

It’s been a long day, but I definitely was thinking the hockey stick was thicker on the DC, but the hood scoop and lines down the side of the AC hood kept throwing my perspective off. But I doooooooo, kinda see it more now

I don’t care for the lower bezel personally. Would look better either thinner or non-existent.

At TS there was a dude that trimmed his hood to fit DC lights on an AC. I couldnt find the post after 10min of searching, but if done right coulda looked cool. (I dont think he ever posted 'finished' pics)

i might pull a JY grille to cut up for mesh. I think it looks great on the '99-'02 trucks.

Just like my fruitless search for the dude who put an early year grill on an 03-06. I like the earlier style myself.

I guess the real question would be the latch function, like is it in the same location/would it work.
For some reason I want to do this, not the headlights but the grill.. and add some (high vis) green LEDs on the lower portion

I don't think the latch changed.

I know on my 03 taco, when I changed the grill from OEM to OEM shell with mesh grill, I had to bend the latch handle a little, in order to make it useable with the mesh grill.

Someone on here ... is it @KNABORES ? ... has a TRD emblem on their grille. It's late, and my brain no work.

Who is it that has one? If I do this, I think I'm going to play around with a TRD badge in the lower driver corner. I may also go with Toyota emblem in the center. Any easy options for a mesh grille like this?

Any recos on filling deep holes in plastic that's sandable? I've seen all kinds of new products on the market in the last 10yrs but dunno if any are decent.

Glad you nailed this. Look forward to the report after a few more backups that there's no more squeel but seems like this is solved!

Those are cool but one small chunk of debris hits it and your eyes will be forever glued to the disruption in all those parallel lines o_O
Edit: does this confirm your earlier ocd claim? Shit...

And now that @BroHon has pointed out the DC hood not aligning with the headlights and corners lights, the way an AC does, I'll never look at a DC the same again...

Epoxy mixed with glass micro balloons to the desired consistency. Hands down the best sanding easiest to use filler for composites/plastic.

    http://www.uscomposites.com/fillers.html
3M glass bubbles is the product I use. Anything on this page would likely work well.

Quiet as a mouse on backout today. Granted, will see if the same is true on next pullout. It was wet today, so I'm sure the added moisture/humidity will cause at least some surface oxidation on the rotors, so we may hear a momentary squeak.

    To this point ^^

The filler needs to be able to plug a 1/4" hole 3/4" deep, and harden to the middle. I'm thinking epoxy stick, 2 part mix, in a burrito. Probably something exothermic to ensure hardening in the middle. I may run by Ace in a bit and see what's on the shelf.

I suppose another option would be to rubber plug 1/3 of the way into the hole from behind to center-plug it, wait for the middle to fully cure, then top-plug either side...

Or better yet, metal tape the front, drop in about 1/6"-1/4" of epoxy, wait for cure, then repeat from the backside in 2-3 treatments.

Whoever did this shit is an asshole. Too much extra work, but it'll look good when it's done.
